  1. I just did that one with a ruled surf with each chain worked good. I have both files done if ya need them let me kow.
  2. Did you extend the sides of surfs to beyond the height of the angled surfs? CLick the delete box inside the surfs trim options and slide the arrows to the parts of the surfs that you want to remain.hth G Gary
  3. Probally give out bonus. But been bitten here for talking like that before. They do fine jobs just haven't figured out why all the auction flyers keep coming each week?
  4. We have a small tool shop and the owner pays well to his guys. He expects alot out of his help but we are paid for it. We don't have button pushers. We continually run very high profit on jobs compared to the dumbed down shops around us. He can go on vacation for a week and nothing misses a beat. He could easily hire 2 times the help for the same wage but then babysitting would be in order. I think managment needs to reward the top guys and get rid of the slackers. This trade is way to competitive nowadays for anything but go getters. A guy can get paid alot of money and still make the company money he just needs to crank stuff out.
  5. Large overheads are a great concern in the us. So much regulation are gov. seems to be always agnainst a companies efforts. In MI here, the govenor says we need to go hi tec she stops in a place in Traverse City that employs 6 hole people and comments on tv that this is the direction we should take. There is only like 4 companies in the world building there product because of no market demand. Ok now what is the rest of us tax payers going to do for work. Two weeks later delfi anounces its chapter 11 plans and she is again on tv complaining how dissapointed she is in the company. Companies in the US I don't think need handouts but we do need government officials to stop trying to justify their own jobs by fining and harrassing our industy. Hell you just feel like ohsa is not their to help make it safe, but instead going to fine you for something no matter what so you might as well leave out something obvious so they will do their thing and get out so people can get back to work.
  6. Very helpful added to notes thanks.
  7. You can always slice your part and use that for your profile if nothing else works.
  8. I was taught full dia of drill unless otherwise. Is it close to breaking through? Either way you will need a bottom tap. Its like 5 imperfect threads at the point of a regular tap so that would be around 5/16 extra the tap would have to go.
  9. solids is awesome for doing subtractions from blocks ect. It will make signs easy this way. Can have a raised letter sign. Need one with but only with impressions all is needed is to sink it in a block remove it and the impressions are ready to cut.
  10. Getting solids is like an old guy getting viagra for the first time. Its that good. Are you doing your own designs or are you importing from others?
  11. THis posted by Randle in another thread has made my day. thanks
  12. I here ya your right you always are. Poor old bosses can't believe anyone would do it. To you sir you deserve it
  13. Yes Toolman I have an idea of what it takes to run a shop. Here I quote 90% of everything I make then deal with the customer about delevery dates get quotes on the stock heattreat ect. Then I draw if needed and machine the parts. Then its right up proper shippers with and make sure All the po's are in order. I am also running a shop from home about 15-20 hrs a week and taking 2 college classes. I would gladly take 10 of me and I ain't bragging. You can ask the owner here. So before you attack me you should no WHAT THE HELL YOUR TALKING ABOUT. And Just for measure we are a 6 guy shop and I clearly stated bosses in general not my specific one. Have a nice day
  14. Yea but we ain't still driving a model t either. Only problem with cnc's is owners don't no the work that goes into running/ programming them. You blow up a cutter and its the end of the world. Yes, me just like the bosses can feel and stop cranking the f'ing handle on a bridgeport if the cutter goes to hell. People in unrelated (management) type work have no clue what is involved in making something and maiking it work. Chemist today says yeah those threads you put in that plug look good but are only going in part way "maybe are to tight eah". I say they are pipe plugs see the taper, and he says yeah I think I heard of those. The guy is 50something years old. Sorry that sure turned into a long winded rant.
  15. THe best bet is to hire a engineer that was/is a programmer. The designs will be less costly to build and the programming could then be done by the engineers.
  16. Do you have any bull nose cutters? I would take it down to depth with them or a small insert style cutter then go back in and clean out the corners with a flat tool. Are you using coolant?
  17. cool thanks what I was wondering about was compared to the emc
  18. Hijack: What do you think of the mill (minimill) so far I would like to see one cut. Just would be for part time thing at home. Just Curious
  19. Is this what you mean? It says 2.09440 if you can't read it.
  20. I have had alot of luck lately by just squirting some tap magic on the tap. Alot easier going then coolant on course thrds. What rpm's are you tapping at? Fine thrd should tap pretty easy.
  21. HOly crap no internet and no cd rom what do you guys do all day? work Now that seriously is not cool.
  22. The mits ajax rocks. Running a 2.00 ajx at .05dp 1000rpm and 200ipm. They are impressive to say the least.
