iscar has a good stainless grade 908 or 907 I believe. 350sfm and light .005 feed works pretty good. I think you could bump the doc cut up some to make up some time. .03-.035 doc.
Plus 1 to what Ron said. Even the best guys miss stuff once in a while. If they get charged or threatened to be charged I can guarantee resume updating will be in short order. If they screw up all the time then just cut your losses and let em go.
I use a touch pad in the corner of the table which is set to g59 it don't have a z offset in it. That way I can touch all tools in relation to my probing tool without having to worry about what is currently in the g54. Also it is nice to be able to hit g56 ect and see the actual position I am in for that offset, not instantly defaulting to the g54. I agree the setting 51 for the door is what must have happened.
Is there a setting on the haas that only will allow g54 to remain active? All of a sudden if I mdi in 56,59 ect the offset numbers will flash but default back to g54 on the offset page. This is making touching tools a pain. No one changed anything it just all of a sudden is that way this morning.
Any ideas what setting got changed?
Gunguy, you are right in the feed/rpm I have to run our haas at on 4141ph. I have seen bigger machines blow it away but that's wear the haas likes to run. You should be able to walk away from the machine and have about 3hrs insert life with what your doing. I like the unattended running at not killing the machine myself. In soft stock you should be able to run in the 150.180 feed range, but I use highspeed paths so the step over is smoother.
How deep you going? Soft or hard brass 360 soft or ampco hard. I would just cut around with contour. I don't think the hsm toolpath will be needed if soft brass it cuts real nice.
In small shops like mine I think management knows they have no idea what your doing or how to do it with the software. I think they kinda play down what your doing so they don't come off as hosed if you are not there. I think they are afraid you will want more money or something if you think you have them by the nuggets. Thats why they bust balls when your on vacation to get stuff done. I like it though it keeps it entertaining. I have always done post mods to get what you want and always get that, why are we wasting time on that look. That look is what tees me off.
I agree my shop thinks mastercam just programs the job like a microwave making popcorn. I just wish they had a clue sometimes on whats involved to draw program and post out a good accurate and mostly a effiant program. I am not saying its rocket sience but it ain't the same as running an engine lathe bridgeport either. I love getting time to make some manual parts sometimes, to me its more relaxing. I can't make as much as my ups driving buddy and I am one of the higher pays in our town, from what I've heard. Thats my ramble on why programmers are to come by.
Happy New Year
