  1. What Bernie says is the correct way too do it. You will see this occur in Pro E files too.
  2. Both those guys are top notch. You gotta keep an eye on Brett at the cash machines though!
  3. It has to do with the new mp.dll file that was supposed to have installed when you updated your software. Did you uninstall the SP2 Version? Be sure to rename that folder to mcam9old. (Installing to the old folder might prevent the mp.dll from getting updated.) Then install the latest and greatest Mastercam. This will create a NEW mcam9 folder and install your New mp.dll file, where no_spc is defined. This variable means "no spaces". If all else fails you might be able to drag and drop the mp.dll file from the system that works to the system that doesn't, forcing the updated mp.dll into the mcam9 folder. Good luck
  4. I have had many a customer have issues with installing the MR0304 over the existing sp2. Here is my procedure Backup data from your current sp2 release such as: mc9's, posts, tool libraries, Mill9.cfg, etc. Rename the Mcam9 folder to mcam9old. This will insure that you get a fresh install. Load MR0304 Pacthes & Updates thru October and finally, MR0105
  5. Does your machine have enough horsepower for you to take bigger depth of cuts and maybe less stepover? The reason being is that the extra wear on the corner of the insert. This was explained to me by a carboloy rep that I used to deal with. And he always told me 20 minutes constant cutting life per corner
  6. Program it all in lathe. May require a bit of training though.
  7. Datty, Cammando is talking about the nose diameter of the tool. Some chamfer tools come to a sharp point others have nose diameters, you need to make sure you define the nose dia. or it will not cut properly. If your tool comes to a sharp point, then tell it the nose dia. is .0001 Good Luck!
  8. Sometimes brushing a little moly-dee as opposed to a water soluble works wonders in this app.
  9. Go with what Lars said. Your distributor should be able to provide you with the manufacturer's tech number.
  10. I am suspicious of this guy. Could he be a spy?
  11. Trav I know that from previous experience having your arc output in IJK format will increase accuracy quite a bit
  12. Why don't you do some contract work with this company, and make some extra dough on the side?
  13. I did a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for. I am trying to set up a post for a customer on an A55 Makino. They typically do not retract to home at an index move.( I know I know... I don't have to run it, so I could care less how they do things). Anyway, I would like to set them up using the safety zone but really don't like what I see. I only want to retract to the safety zone on index moves, and am noticing my drill cycles, and such retracting after each hole drilled, or the endmill retracting after each pocket on multiple pockets. I would like to set the post up with a condition but not sure where the post is catching the Z move. Or am I missing something in the Safety Zone setup? Thanks
  14. These things come apart relatively easy. It is possible there could have been some moisture that turned to rust. Or, like cutterman says, thrust washers. At one time I was able to call Kurt's Tech support and get schematics and part lists of the vise models. This way you can order this hardware and fix it up
  15. You shouldn't have any difficulty bringing in a 2004 Solidworks. There is a patch released in June to combat this issue. Mastercam is still in the process of building a converter for the 2005 SW. So for now import the parasolid (X_T) file instead.
  16. I had a conversation with a programmer from Machine Works during IMTS. She told me they are working on the problem. BTW Mastercam isn't the only Cam package having problems with Machine Works product.
  17. It would probably be better to have separate posts for your vertical and horizontal machining centers
  18. I run into this alot. I have my customers do the following: Uninstall the previous Version 9 Release Rename the Mcam9 folder to Mcam9old. This way you still have access to any files left in the folder Go ahead and install the new release and let it default to the new Mcam9 folder. The uninstall will only clear the registry, it will not delete the folder.
  19. Harry, How about if I look at what posts we available and then that's the machine you will buy?
  20. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the creators of the Verify functionality. The verify feature is created by a second party, not CNC Software. I had a conversation with one of the programmers from that company at IMTS. We are not the only Cam Package dealing with this issue.
  21. James, d00d presents a very good argument.....any thoughts?
  22. James, I will probably redesign that post based on your's and Craig's ideas. The post works great! The customer doesn't really care how the post looks...but I do. Besides, I have never played with that part of the post before, so I will have to tinker with it. Thanks for sharing the code Tim
