Clayton,
I see you have also posted on the main forum. There are a number of ways to do this depending on the source data. If you have ascii points collected from your machine tool when you import them you can create splines from the data and then create a lofted surface from the splines. If you would like more information please e-mail me thru this forum.
Thanks,
Create new Operations and Geometry
Copies geometry from the original operation to each transform location and applies parameters from the original operation to each new toolpath. The original operation (geometry and parameters) is then deleted. This method creates several new independent operations with the same geometry and parameters instead of a single transform operation.
You mention you have a Transform toolpath.
Do you have the "copy new operations and geometry" option on? Do you have the "Keep this transformation operation" checked?
Did you check mark "Copy source operation"?
I would investigate the transform operations settings under the types and settings tab.
James,
You are not eligible. However, we used to run a cool parts entries for our industrial customers. It was announced in a previous customer newsletter. If you really want to submit a part and get a gift bag of goodies give me a call and I'll put you in touch with the right people.

Just a reminder about our wildest part competition. We had some really great entries last year and are looking forward to seeing you and your students "Wildest" parts this year.

Re. Update Manager patch:
After you install Mastercam X2, go here...
http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X2/Default.aspx
Download and install mastercamX2-patch001.zip
Instructions
This patch is issued to address an Update Manager error:
Download "mastercamx2-patch001.exe" and double-click on it to run the installation. Make sure Mastercam is closed before running the installation.
I have seen a number of cnc or Mastercam clips on youtube, ifilm, myspace, etc...
Many schools also have their curriculum and or project links available on their school websites.
Would any instructors care to place a link to their program here?
Right click on the rotary axis inside the machine definition and then click on properties. Set the Continuous axis type to signed direction, absolute angle.
If you want to load the same template every time you launch Mastercam X2 then add it to the target string of your icon by rightclicking on the icon, left click on properties. Where the target string is listed as c:mcamx2mastercam.exe add a space and then the complete path for the template file.
The last time I spoke with Mr. Irving before the winter break it was my understanding that his post processor created clean G-code including most of his canned cycles. He wants to incorporate the canned facing cycle of his machine tool.
This is not the fault of his reseller. If any blame should be laid on anyone it should be me as I have not gotten a modification to him since I have returned from my vacation.
It is my understanding that someone in the post department is working on a modification to utilize the canned roughing operation for his canned facing cycle.
My apologies to Mr. Irving for the delay.
Sincerly,

"- Indexing and axis substitution are not multi-axis toolpaths, so mill level 3 still has a lot of usefulness on 4 and 5 axis machines. Only 4D and 5D toolpaths are affected by the change."
Indeed tool plane and WCS as well as 3+2 type toolpath operations can be created by the Educational versions including the student software.
In addition, the Rotary fourth axis toolpath is still available to our educational customers with out having to purchase the new multi-axis add-on.
We significantly reduced the educational price of our software a while back to the extent that if a customer were to purchase a seat with maintenance and multi-axis they would still be paying less than what they would have paid for version 9. Plus they get Design, Router, Wire, and Solids as well.
The Student software will not be able to create any of the "Multi-axis" toolpaths. They will have to create them on the schools seats instead of at home.
Ooh, ME, ME, ME!
MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE!!!!!!!!
I want it so bad, I'll pay people not to bid on it!!
Mike, Please!!!!, gimme, gimme, gimme...
If I don't get this under my tree this year, I'm gonna be so
Thad,
Could you please zip2go and e-mail me an example or sample file in Mastercam X illustrating your "Cut to bad data" statement and the problems you are encountering with spline based toolpaths?
Billy,
I think drawing ANY "part" from a print can be accomplished faster or as fast in Mastercam by the right person as in any other CAD package.
While I know that CNC Software tends to stress the CAM aspect of our software our CAD capabilities have been my personal choice for over 15 years!!

When updating or upgrading a Nethasp one MUST use the word document attachment that was e-mailed to you. Trying to type in the code will never work. If you are still having problems please call 1(800)ASK-MCAM.
