We have a new Haas VF2SS with the high speed machining option.
Are there any special codes (such as Mazak's G61) to turn this function on/off ??
Thanks in advance.
I just use a straight line at the knurl dia. for a finish w/ a perpendicular entry / exit of about .100. then offset the tool in to get the final DOC needed
Same strategy for either cut or formed knurls.
I also use a OD grooving tool to simulate a knurl tool.

We have a new Haas VF2ss with a next-gen control.
I am confused as to which feedrate format to use ( ipm or ipr ? ) .
Is the feedrate value dependent upon G94 or G95 ?
Is there a default format ?
An internet search mentioned using a G99 for ipr on a Haas lathe, but this is a mill.
Haas 'help' on control or pdf of the mill manual was of little help as some example programs used ipr and others used ipm.(w/out showing feedrate mode of control)
Thanks in advance
Hi everyone,
I am looking for recommendations as to how to prevent grey cast iron chips from getting through the slots in a 4" Hardinge 5C step chuck and collecting between the step chuck and the step chuck closer. The boss says stuff the slots with permatex. Any better ideas ?
Thanks in advance,
It also helps to have the OD fit the geometry of the knurl so that the # of knurl teeth fits evenly on the OD.
See attached exel file , adjust cells that are red only.

Is there a way to edit a stand-alone tool manager tool/holder and 'save as' to create a new item ?
Or do I have to start from scratch each new tool / holder. ??
Our small grinder was way off its X limits on Monday morning.
Control booted up w/ a display of 17.19.40
I have determined that 17 = Emergency , 19= X axis travel limit overrun, and 40=Y axis travel limit overrun.
I fiddled w/ the 'Home" prox switches and somehow the Y axis cleared up.
The I tried to duplicate the procedure on the X axis but to no avail.
Is anyone familiar w/ this antique controller and possibly give me some guidance ?
The installation and user manuals only describe the error codes w/ no clues on how to rectify them.

I you are using a HMC index it to 45 degrees then use a bullnose straight endmill for the entire V groove.
Flutes get one side of the 'V', the bottom of the endmill gets the other side of the 'V'.
Dynamic toolpaths will also make quick work of it.
What is not working ??
I would have put all of the logic in the sub and cut with a WHILE-END loop but M98P0070L#507 should work ok.
Meanwhile try:
M98P0070L#507(CALL SUBPROGRAM O0070 AND REPEAT #507 TIMES)
and
G98G1Z-[#501+.10]F#505(FEED PER MINUTE)
