  1. Something you might want to experiment with further is to try making arcs in the XZ and XY plane work with that control, the machine will cut some much smoother at higher speeds. Make sure allow 360 deg arcs is UN-checked and also click on the break at 90 deg button for every plane in the control definition. I bet that will solve the issue.
  2. Dave, I have used the same method. With mpgen5x, I don't think there is any other way. You can insert a manual entry before and after the toolpath to get it to output at least almost edit free. I will usually throw in a M00(check code before running first time) in case I forget months down the road..
  3. As far as I can tell, the 5x post does not have the functionality to position the xy plane via the WCS->C/T plane comparison that the 4x posts do. I have toyed around with the Misc values for hours, trying to get the initial angle to post out, but to no avail. This is something I would LOVE to get squared away, if someone has a good option, other than posting it out on a 4x post, then I would love to know! I believe we are going to need a post mod to get this to work.
  4. You will not be able to post that with the 5x post. do it with the 4x. There is just no functionality in the 5x post, to rotate just the top plane and have it post out. Post gurus, please correct me if I am wrong, I have had this request several times and have not been able to find a better solution.
  5. Assuming you are using a mill and level 3: 10,000 ft explanation of one approach will be to: 1 - Revolve the profile to make a ½ surface. 2 - Rough it out with pocket rough operation. 3 - Finish it with parallel finish in the 90 deg direction and turn on filter and create arcs in the yz plane to minimize code. 4 - use transform operation to index and repeat 2 or 4 times. Have your dealer contact me, and I can give them a sample file I have done of something very similar to that picture in 4 indexes.
  6. Surface finish Contour will probably do what you want. Upload the file if you want someone to look at it, there are probably 10 ways to get it done, selecting the best is always the trick!
  7. +1K on the made it better. v9 = dark ages. refer to this link for details on how to use the backplot method: http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...0922;p=1#000018
  8. Thanks! I just started to sweat when I realized I had no Hole Axis in X4!
  9. Thanks Günther, it's still the best setup sheet ever!
  10. You will have to boot into Windows to get the best performance and full dealer support. You could also run it in a virtual machine. Download virtualbox and give it a whirl. You can't run MC in Mac OS. Yet. Is it possible? Maybe one day. The WINE project has lots of promise. I tired to install it the other day using WINE, I made very little progress. If I ever get it running on Mac OS X or linux, I will post instructions, but don't hold your breath, the WINE project is still young.
  11. Hey everyone, The AGIE 123 wire GEO + JOB file post has been finished up. It was quite a bit of work, 2D cutting and Tapers are now fully operational. It will run on a dealer post until 06/2009. If anyone is interested, please email me: [email protected] You can download it here: http://www.alvarogil.com/cadcam_agie.html # Before anyone gets all revved up. - InHouse is aware of this post and does not consider it a competitive product. I would have rather purchased it from IHS if it was available! [ 03-05-2009, 04:35 PM: Message edited by: Alvaro Gil - Cimquest-inc.com ]
  12. Kccadcam, really sorry about that. I checked a co-workers computer and I think what might have happened is the control file overwrote the master control file that has lots of required info. I have placed my original control file up on the original web page along with updated instructions and how to fix your broken install. http://www.alvarogil.com/cadcam/editor/index.html
  13. Try taking them out and see if it runs.. Try your home folder: C:Documents and Settings.jeditmodes
  14. As said, you will have to make planes with the hole geo. Really fast and easy. No need to mess with a complex 5x toolpath. Call up your reseller and they will walk you through it. We generally show you how right on your machine via GoToMeeting
  15. Undo after save works... As for the corrupt program, try downloading it again from here: http://www.jedit.org/index.php?page=download you want the windows installer: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jedit/j...re16install.exe or the stable windows installer: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jedit/jedit42install.exe
  16. Posted a pic of the compare plug-in (JDiff) http://www.alvarogil.com/cadcam/editor/Jdiff.jpg Its pretty awesome. You can edit either window while its running and it auto updates. Don't really know about the undos yet.
  17. If anyone makes any changes to the config files, send me them so I can update the page! If someone makes a g-code config I will gladly throw it up there.
  18. I ran across an awesome programmers text editor the other day called JEdit. It's so much nicer to write posts with than the Mastercam editor. I made a quick web page with the config files for editing Mastercam posts. These will highlight the variables and operators! This editor is so cool. super configurable. Once you try the hyper search feature you will never go back! Ohhh, it's totally free too. http://www.alvarogil.com/cadcam/editor/
  19. Its way easier to search in PDF format. I would however love to get one of those eBook readers and throw it on that!
  20. Where it says moves per refresh, type in 10,000 and then click on the other box. Make sure you click in the other box when you are done! This is as fast as verify will go in regular mode. Also - Make sure your holder dia is the same size as your tool shank, this will also make it move faster... X3 has huge speed improvements in verify, upgrade. I don't think that card is really bogging down verify, but it is unsupported. Its a 2d card. Id upgrade that to a Quadro FX 570 when you get a chance.
  21. +1 on the form tap. Also if you can, avoid 6-32. Better off with 4-32.
  22. Having the Mazatrol file is great for Mazatrol users, you can post out 100s of holes or very complicated geometry so they dont have to spend all day punching in geometry on the controller. G-Code to non-Mazatrol users sure is "easier" in our minds at least. G-Code to a seasoned Mazatrol user could be frightening!
  23. Just went to another customers today that needs it for making thermoforms. No better or faster way than the auto coons option. Anyone else care to speak up? I'm sure there are many more out there.
  24. You know you could use mastercam to post mazatrol code too... I will post some pics of how it works soon, but basically you make a contour toolpath and set the mazatrol parameters with a custom c-hook. When you read the program into the mazatrol its ready to go. If interested email me.. [email protected]
  25. Ok everyone, I just updated the post and it works pretty well. I have made a web page: http://www.alvarogil.com/cadcam_agie.html Check it out, it explains the complications of the AGIE and how to use the post. A link to the post is at the bottom of the page. Any help developing this post will be much appreciated!
