  1. No-Go with Mastercam X4MU1. Has this functionality been removed??? If so, I want it back! Pleeaaassssseee....
  2. Also try using IJK instead of R values in G2/3... Dont know if its an issue on haas machine, but a fanuc set up with loose tolerances will cut totally out of round with R values.
  3. We do them in NJ when people ask for them. Maybe once a year. If you are close to NJ or Harrisburg PA, give us a call.
  4. Did you select the "box" cycle? The generic posts post out G92s when that is selected...
  5. under pcirc you can throw in a line that says: if mr10$, feed = feed*mr10$ then you can throw in a multiplication factor in the misc reals to cut down your speed by. This would solve the problem for contours or pockets. I have a customer that needs this simple functionality. HighFeed/HighSpeed is too complicated for him and it lengthens the code to much for his non-drip feeding controller. So I understand peoples pain with the current methods.
  6. Hey everyone, Is there a delimiter you can throw into the CSV file so mastercam knows where to end the auto generated spline? I have a CSV file that I want to make several splines with automatically, and I recall that there is some kind of delimiter Mastercam can read. Either that or I'm just making it all up.
  7. newchsmcam, This is very confusing for new users. The offsets for every pass in these old libraries are not set up the "modern" way. Change all the wire sizes to .01 and set the overburn for each pass to whatever offset you are using for those passes.
  8. I have never seen this happen and I used the 2d wire frame sweep quite a bit too. I suspect it's an X issue. Consider upgrading to X4, its much more stable and has incredible new toolpaths.
  9. There is simply no way a small shop can justify or even pay for Vericut!!! Just no way. Machsim is all the rage these days for Mastercam if you ask me. It will work with mastercam X2, X3, X4 and you can get it right now at the emastercam FTP site under add-ons. If you do want it to verify posted code, you can write the simulator commands inside the post that posts your gcode. This way you are sure to catch those posted errors. All for pennies compared to Vericut. If you want to take machsim one step further, Camaix offers g-code simulation for it.
  10. I just cannot express my love enough for dynamic milling. Even if this was the only reason to upgrade it's well worth it. http://www.alvarogil.com/cadcam/mastercam/...namic_mill.html Oh and id get on maintenance, X5 is going to bring something similar to contours. Boy did I need that toolpath on the last job I did, i broke so many 1/8 cutters it started to get old...
  11. Solved! Finally found one! Its called winline, but its not free. Anyone have a free driver that works? I bet some of the roland drivers work. Anyone have any ideas??
  12. Does anyone have a sample HPGL file that imports into mastercam directly? I have tried at least 5 different HPGL printers and even an Mcam post processor, but I cannot read a single HPGL file. I just need the basic format that works so I can make HPGL geometry that works with mastercam... Any help appreciated.
  13. Depending on the job, but yes you have to at least finish the sides with a contour...
  14. Here is a tricky one: I need to import points that come from a spreadsheet. But they are not in the familiar format: XYZ XYZ XYZ ... .. . They are instead in this format: c1 c2 c3 c4 c5 c6 r1 z z z z z z r2 z z z z z z r3 z z z z z z r4 z z z z z z r5 z z z z z z Where the columns and rows are all a set distance and there is only a need to give the z dimensions of a point. So what I have is this huge grid. Anyone have a slick way of putting this spreadsheet or cvs file into the Cartesian format??
  15. +1 for verisurf. Incredible software for working with point clouds. And easy as compared to the stuff out there.
  16. It's a great upgrade, i cannot express my love for dynamic pocketing. I would also wait for MU1 to be released or you will just need to install that in a week or so. Posts should not be that huge an issue. Note that if your posts are not written that well, new error checking in X4 will make you aware of the errors that used to be "silent" and you will have to fix them. Contrary to what i have heard, this is a great thing. Now we actually know something is wrong, and you avoid posing bad code.
  17. Just tried it with inksape. Works well but it does not deform the logo. It will not stretch the top, it will just place the sections of it on the curve. How to: 1 - print a pdf. Install cutepdf if you don't have it. 2 - open pdf in inksape 3 - convert entities to paths 4 - group logo 5 - put path on lowest section 6 - run pattern along path command.
  18. Leandro, I have had some success with this command: can you send me a sample logo? I'm really curious.
  19. Forget the post mod, I think its too complicated... I have two more ideas: 1 - use inkscape: Here is a video on how to use the bezier envelope routine to wrap text. I think you can use it to wrap any curve... http://screencasters.heathenx.org/wp-conte...ideos/ep088.ogv 2 - dosen't this chook wrap text onto a tire mold? http://www.camaix.intrameld.net/downloads/...tVX__X2_MR2.exe
  20. Also think about what support is worth to you. What you also get with solidworks and mastercam is the awesome reseller network, and its endless resources. Like this board.... You just dont get this kind of knowledge and support with cheap software.
  21. Dude, its a TL. It has linear ways and a lightweight casting. It's about the weakest CNC lathe on the market, structurally and HP wise. Any decent turning center will demolish a TL in terms of productivity.
  22. Could make a post mod to do this if that curve is a circle... Are your curves always circles?
  23. Lathe is actually an awesome product, fear not, it will make minced iron out of the TL....
  24. Anyone? I'd love to hear too. These days a rotary screw compressor cost far less than a few drums of coolant. Id love to 86 coolant.
