If the part is repositioned on the table and machined, does the same error occur?
I recall someone encountering a similar error many moons ago, and it turned out to be a worn ball screw from memory. (That is from memory though... )
.030 is a big error.
Good customer service speaks volumes, and based on that, CGTech scream . Sure, I work closely with them nowadays, but when I was "just" a customer, I used their service and support as a benchmark to rate other CAM companies. The technical support team there are prompt, efficient and courteous. And they listen.
I went very quickly from not knowing a whole lot about machine and control building, to creating and configuring an Okuma 5 axis mill, and an Okuma Multus B axis mill turn. And with their help (and to be honest, not a whole lot help was needed), I had these models working great.
That is why, when I was given the opportunity, I jumped at the chance of working more closely with them. All software has pros and cons (even Mastercam! ), and it isn't just the software. Service and support is a big chunk of the package, and something not to be dismissed.
I tried various USB ports, but the problem persists regardless of which port I use.
I've noticed Windows UAC seems more actively lately, popping up prompts for some programmes. Maybe that has something to do with it. That points to maybe some Windows update.
Yes, I started and stopped the driver, and I also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers.
I'll maybe try their tech support.
I can't help but think that it is a windows update of some description. Nothing else has changed
I've just started getting some weird behaviour from my SpaceNavigator.
I'm running the latest drivers, and all was good. Now, whenever I boot up, it wont function in Vericut, Mastercam, TopSolid or anything else.
I have to shut down whatever app I'm running, start the 3Dconnexion properties app, shut that down, then restart Vericut etc, then it works. The driver sees the Navigator fine in the device manager, and the blue LED's are lit.
Anyone encountered this before?
We looked at the Renishaw Productivity Plus standalone application. The Mastercam addon is out of the question, for a reason I wont disclose openly here. Since we have Vericut, and it appears to be capable of giving us what we need, we'll explore it further.
I totally understand what you're saying Tim, in that the extra effort of using two separate systems. Thankfully, we don't experience constant revision.
Well, it is early days (Ive just started looking at it), but Vericut appears to have the capability to programme the probing cycles. And, as I have Vericut....
Are you using it for Probe programming as well as verification? When I was at CGTech last, I asked about this. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of knowledge about it, but it seems to have the capabilities.
Re: NX maintenance. Yes, it is expensive, and they make you bleed if you come off maintenance, then try to get back on.
Also, it depends on the reseller (like all software).. Our NX reseller has a great technical guy, but we purchased a full seat of Design/Lathe/Mill up to 5 axis and they've never even set foot on our site. One of the reasons we decided to stop paying them anything. Plus, they never fully delivered on the posts they said they would.
NX seemed to be pretty good for Mill/Turn, though I honestly don't think it is as good as some of the others.
It turns out the issue was that I had opened a Mill/Turn part. I would have expected a "Lathe not supported" error or something like that.
Worked fine with a Mill file
Has anyone encountered the same issue I mentioned re: No being able to access MachSim/Verify/Backplot through the buttons on the button bar? (Licensing Error).
Works fine using ALT-C for MachSim, and clicking on Backplot or Verify through the Operations manager.
I've never used Machsim, so I've got no customised files. I just tried using a generic supplied machine. It works using ALT-C, so there should be no difference.
