I'm going to throw a little logic in there... Of course, your dealer may want to "develop their own". Is there an off the shelf post processor from CNC Software for the UMC750? Of course... and, like a post processor for a third party developer, there is a typically a cost for multiaxis post processors.
Most CAM software providers have a number of certified off the shelf post processors for various makes and models of machine tools. Some choose to provide basic posts free of charge, and attribute a cost to more complex posts.
Maybe I'm missing something, but why don't you just draw the geometry? What does the saved backplot geometry give you? I think the op is just wanting a ramp on bore, with Z/C rather than XYZ?
Mastercam Lathe Threading. Quick and Simple. I always liked how in a few mouse clicks, you can have a threading toolpath generated on the screen, and typically without requiring any geometry.
Global Setup -> General -> Editor Uncheck "Disable Backspace at start of line"
NC Functions -> Toolpath Statistics. That shows the Min-Max values
This is for Cimco V8
I have a customer with a Haas UMC750. He is really pleased with it so far, but it is early days, so time will tell.
We have a Okuma MU500V-II. Great machine, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another MU.
I haven't had the tool manager crash at all. Like gcode, not once.
The +D+Z issue is the JParis B1tch ( ) for me. I wont do any lathe work in 2017. Strictly milling.
Haha, actually, it is Tuesday night. Sorry, I plain forgot about this post.
I'll check the comms settings first thing in the morning and get them to you
Support is a big chunk of the equation, and I can honestly say, that as an end user, and even as a representative, CGTech provides the best tech support I have ever experienced. They have a big number of really experienced individuals in their support department. Of course others will continue to wage their jihad on them, they're a great company to deal with.
As for Mastercams MT.. Well, its been a long time coming, and it has a long way to go. For complex multi channel machines, there are far better options out there
We've got three Okumas, all connected to Cimco DNC Max, via a Moxa Nport server. I'm not at work at the moment, but I can give you all our comms settings and formats.
I seem to recall having your issue initially, but I don't recall how I fixed it. But, they're all working fine now. We've got one OSP7000, so I can provide the settings for that.
I'm not at work at the moment, but I can send it through on Monday.
No, I don't recall being told. I was also told a beta wasn't going to be available until later in the year, but some are already testing it?
*Edit* Actually, yes, you did tell me. I was under the impression that was an estimate. My bad
Ron, the OP was asking about CAM, not Verification. You're the one that mentioned Vericut in this thread
And by the way, you don't need autodiff to display the line of code for a particular cut.
I was told the Cimco machine sim wouldn't be available until January at least. And I've not been told any pricing. Indeed, I'm not even sure they know the pricing yet.
It is still going to be a long way off Vericut though, that's for sure.
I wish we had got a photo when Hardmill, Ron, Gcode and I caught up at the last VUE.
There have been rumours of a photo or two of me in SoCal with Hardmill, TK32, gcode and Foghorn.... But they're just rumours LOL
I haven't heard of/encountered the problem, and I've dealt with a large number of machines, most of which use a sub for the toolchange.
Either way, they'll sort it
