  2. *** Breaking in and playing devil's advocate here*** If the file extension stays the same from now on then in future releases would it not be possible to have a file that cannot be opened because it CNC Software doesn't go back that far. (eg, the other thread about MC7 files that is heated). Just a question here is all. For me I have updated(or have tried to) all my files just to make sure there are no problems with them in case i need to change a path or something. *** Ok ...I now end my devil's advocate role ***
  3. We use them on 416SS and 4140 alloy with excellent results. We even use the same grade and style for both materials. Here is the specs we use: SANVIK CUTTER: RA245-051R19-12M SANVIK INSERT: R245-12T3E-ML QUANTITY:3 SANVIK WIPER: R245-12T3E-W QUANTITY:1 Sanvik's website is not the best for research but most insert manufacturers make this style of insert.
  4. well material is a key factor in deciding what method to use. We maintain a 32 finish on 416SS material using a sandvik 1-1/2" 45 degree face mill. The key was/is the insert selection. Talk with your insert rep. about using a "wiper" insert. It was the the solution to feed lines and a "wavey" finish. I could get you the info if you are interested. JM2C

  6. Alberti/Komas here. Use them on our Mori's. Not bad but we have found that if you max out the diameter recommendation you will run into problems with them.
  7. duplicate lines will call this problem also. I normally do a chain to find if there is only 1 chain. this will also check for broken lines. After chaining i blank this entity to make sure there is nothing "behind" it jm2c
  8. +1 to mitee bites especially if you are needing access to the complete top surface of the parts. Cheap and simple workholding.

Our NV's have an override key switch.....which i am sure you already know about..it will allow you to run in single block with the door open which when probing is a pain in the butt trying to cycle through....John, i may be wrong but i would venture to guess that this is a keep relay that you are looking for..just a hunch on my part since i have never looked into this.
  10. +1 on conventional mill and S & F. that would be really close to where i would start also.
  11. .006/side for low pressure (water line or even low air pressure) is not that bad. basically you will be drilling a hole for a NPS thread(straight pipe thread). It should still seal but it will require additional tape or thread dope. (personally i have always had to use tape or thread dope to seal properly anyways). JM2C
  12. You sure under finish contour parameters the "Total Tolerance" you want that to be .0001" Just a question. i know on my system it locks up also but when changed to .001 it works fine.
  13. For me i create a level for my holder;define it on that level. Works great on backplot. when using verify it shows only a "default" tool. Is this the same problem you guys are referring to? If so then i personally would love to see what i define in verify because that is where i do most of my collision checks not just with the part but with fixturing,hydraulic lines,etc. Just my 2.5 cents worth David
  14. we have had the same problem with our Mori's here in the past. Never have resolved the problem or pinpointed a cause. clamping pressure tests,tool change sequence test, ect. (i personally have not seen this happen to another machine tool as much as it has on Mori's but we have not been able to prove anything.) However we have changed suppliers for our pull studs and are keeping our fingers crossed.
  15. I agree with Kurt M's response except select the color tab and select "Use Entity Colors". It works for me fine after that but i do have to do that every time i import a new solid/surface.
  16. I just used it on a job i am working on now. It works just fine for me. By no means am i an expert at it. i am just a rookie. but if i have a problem with something i usually do a search on the forum for previous topics related to my problem and "READ". then through trial and error figure out what i done wrong. For me it works great that way because i get a sense of accomplishment by trial and error in figuring out a problem. Just my 2.5 cents worth David
  17. As far as MHO goes. I love the new interface. I may be a little "green" since i started on V9 (came over from surfcam). V9 was "layered" to much in my opinion. I can easily access anything with either a right click or a icon. I was fortunate to take training which help me familiarize myself with the icons and all the "new" stuff. By no means am i a veteran of the MC but it appears from a relatively new customer is is a GREAT improvement from V9. Just my 2-1/2cents worth.

  19. How can i copy one level (Geometry) to another in X. when i hover the pointer over the "Level" box in the bottom of the system it appears to show a "right-click" capability. However, no right click options are available. Did something maybe change when i loaded MR1? Thanks in advance David
