first draw some X & Y origin lines at destination point for new wcs. draw X & Y origin lines where the part is currently located. pick geo, use point to point and then select origins as follows. pick origin, midpoint of axis line and midpoint of other axis line. you will do this for both origins to describe where you're at and where you're going. can't remember, but pretty sure it will prompt you for X first. Make sure check box for "preview" is indicated to see before accepting.
cheers
This has just come up for me and was wondering if anyone came up with anything? I have a formula that I can't remember what all of it means and I'd like to share for feed back. I am currently waiting for an install of MCX and writing by hand anyway. This formula calculates finish (vanish) point in "Z".
Z.1+Z(1)+MCC
DELTA RPM / PITCH / SERVO LAG CONSTANT = MCC
(NOTE: Z(1) "little one" is relative to tool tip.
I'm a little foggy on this one)
TIA
years ago Iscar did provide for lathes. When I upgraded to X I did a moon dance, converted to text and import txt file into X. no such thing anymore. was probably custom made to begin with anyway before my time.
is it true that many shops are closing in Canada? it was explained to me that the rise of the canadian dollar is pushing more work to the states. therefore , my boss is waiting for one to decide to come in as a third person to help program. are the walls really closing in up there??

I could'nt get X to create a "Net surface". nets are a little picky. trim all edge curves and chain in ONE direction only. If the situation allows, try creating a flat boundary surface as a quick solution.
oops, double post. anyway either learn the vericut (Bob will teach you if you ask) or get them to buy the cimco editor v.5
I'm trying to talk my boss in to the cimco v.5 right now for the same reason. it's 10 times as fast and easier to use than the vericut.
/edit/ no more vericut?? get that guy across the hall to reload. (elvis hair) or get the cimco.

ok, I did something wrong. in the middle of the toolpath it changed strategy and went from ordering all cuts by depth to order cuts by pocket. It did this about 3/4 of the way down. I cant ftp until tomorrow. Firewall from hell.
Help?

You can always go back in with another tool and finish cut those flat surfaces with horizontal area, or a waterline toolpath. +1 to waterline, I like the constant z collapse.
kinda wierd but since the new mother board I get a greyed out background in the lead in/out menu and some others. I'll probably do another repair sequence to see if that helps. Doesn't seem to affect the anything but graphically. Everything still works in other words. Had to knock off early today to serve jury duty down here in whoville. I'll get on it in the morning. I'm swamped at work. Any other ideas on the grey out?
today while importing .xt file my box locked up. I restarted and bios wouldn't load. nvidia geforce boot looped until all I got was a intermittent red flashing light. Maybe mother board? couldn't be a virus no way. time for a new box.
Larry,
I'm having a hard time finding this in search "osai" but we just had a software upgrade
last week or so. They kept to their story that it was the programming. My boss programs this machine mostly and he knew that it was a smoke screen. All seems to be well after upgrade.
if you want to disect HSM to a scientific process (no kidding) I found this link in a search on this forum. I have found that these toolpaths are great. Although it may be extrememly necessary to linearize your arcs if you haven't done so already as a general rule. (that one bit me a little). anyway....
