Looking into a new laptop and was wondering what specs I should be going for. How much RAM, which Nvidia card?

 

Looking at a Dell M4500, any other suggestions?

Have a look on the benchmark thread - #1577 gives my 6500 time and there is a lot of good info on there.

My last three notebooks have been HP Mobile Workstations. My current machine is a HP 8570W. 32gb ram, Nvidia Quadro K1000M video card (2gb Video memory).

 

I'm more than happy with the performance. I run it through the HP Advanced docking station, with two 24" monitors.

there are a couple around $2k with quadro cards and one with a k2000 for $1300 I would grab if in the market.

remember ram is cheap to upgrade and a solid state is a must but not too much $$ or hard to put in

Mark, the M4500 is more then few years old. that is why you only see them on ebay. They were released late 2009 very early 2010.

Buy the referbs off ebay. Make sure it is a factory one this comes in the dell box brand new and full onsite 3 year warranty I got a few of mine that way. and they a perfect.
You can save a lot for sure. I will post an example in second after I find one.

I recently picked up a Dell M4600 on eBay used.  Other than needing a new battery everything works perfectly.  It's a 2011 vintage, but picked it up for $520.
