COOLANT

Recommended Posts

You should talk to a local dealer.

Out here, the water is very hard and affects the performance of some coolants. Some coolants do not play well with hard water and form corrosive

compounds which will cause serious rusting in a matter of days.

Checking with some local shops might be a good place to start. I can't imagine Quebec having hard

water, but you never know.

swisslube, castrol, valcool, hangsterfers, etc... are all good brands. I would have each distributor come out and talk to you about your app and test your water. Each will have different requirements as far as oil skimming, pay very close attention and ask questions about this and follow them to a tee. Ask questions about recommended mixture rates for your app, life expectancy, and so forth. A cheaper brand with a cheaper oil skimmer may cost you much more in the not so long run. Some may provide a recycling service which you will be required to do by law, either that or evaporate it... This really gets into the Ford / Chevy argument thing, get informed and make your own decision.

Good luck,

Salut Fralex,

I would take Roger's advice and get some suppliers in to discuss their products. We used to use Blaser SwissLube but found it too expensive. we now have some machines with Valcool VNT 650 and some with Cimperial 1070. Both are good coolants but they still need attention (like skimming) to prevent bacteria from growing and turning the coolant rancid.

Bood Luck et bonne chance,

Phil

Fralex,

Definattely get the supplier to come to your place and get them to make a water analysis so they can suggest you the appropriate coolant. Here, we used Valcool but had to change because the city changed the chlorine percentage in the water, We now use Cimcool 60C and it does a very good job.

Hope that helps,
