FTP Site

Hi Friends

 

I unable to connect this forum Ftp Site from last few days,

 

ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/

 

Is there any chages made to connect it? Like login Name etc.

Or server is not working.

Recent update to XP SP2? Others have had this problem.

I can't access the FTP either. I've recently

upgraded to XP SP2. If that is the problem, how do you fix it???

I don't remember which setting it is exactly, but under Internet options go to the advanced tab and click restore defaults. This did it for me. Also if you do a search it has been discussed recently.

jctjct, SP2 appears to set PASV as the default FTP transfer mode for FTP connections in IE. This won't work with the eMastercam FTP site. To remedy this, from Internet Explorer, go Tools | Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab. Scroll down and look for "Use Passive FTP". Uncheck it. HTH

I can get in with IE, but not with Firefox. Does someone know how to fix that?

I,m with Jim also. I did this change about 2 weeks ago and it fixed 25% of all my internet problems

Firefox doesn't provide any FTP functionality. It's a web browser. Period. It renders web pages better than any browser out there. It's a lean mean browsing machine.

 

IE tries to be a little of everything and sucks at most of it.

 

For using FTP sites, the most robust way is to use a dedicated FTP client; a piece of software that does nothing but navigate FTP sites. There's plenty to choose from but I like FileZilla. It's open source so it's free, but don't let the "zilla" throw you off. FileZilla has nothing to do with the any projects from the Mozilla organization. "Zilla" is just fun t say

Is it asking you for a password for the ftp site

 

or each time you log into emastercam?

 

i had a bit of trouble with it asking for for my login every time i entered the m/c site even when i was logged in at the time.

Try Tools / Options / Saved passwords

 

tick the remember passwords box.

Then place a new shortcut on your desktop. I found this fixed my problem. Dont know if this is the same problem though.

After SP-2, also had trouble accssesing FTP...Im not sure how i fixed, or if I fixed, but FTP became available again recently. Today, it is gone again
