threadmilling with fanuc control

having trouble with code for thread millng from mastercam. using the mpmaster post. kicking up an error in the control ( an axis not included in the selected plane was commanded in circular interpolation. anyone ran across this before. we hace a fanuc o-m series c

Heavy, you want to send me the file, I can look at it. I have never seen that before.

If your getting an error at the control your

control probably don't have helical int. enabled.

Linearize arcs.

We had this problem on a few machines with Fanuc 16's. The solution was just an easy parameter change. Sometimes "Helical" is an option that they try to get you to pay for. In short, it is really the only way to go.

It is an option. You'll need to contact Fanuc.

The cost is minimal if I remember correctly.

Or if you can put C axis you can substitute axis and mill with simultaneous x and C axes ,just a thought

Just a thought...some of our fanuc controls will not accept a comp in (wear) on a circle, so I have to make sure that I have a linear move, to pick up the CC before it starts the helical move. It doesn't even have to be helical, just milling a circle requires a linear move to pick up the cutter comp. You can check this by removing the g41 or g42 from the program and see if it still kicks out the path.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think no control will accept cc on a circular approach without a linear move

None of the fanuc and yasnac controls we have would do it. Trust me I tried...

Not familiar with other controls so guess this is what you have in mind?

I think there is 3d cc available for fanucs but other then that..

Very interested to know. There is always something new to learn

Don't know about yasnac, but there are some fanucs

that do (may even be a parameter).

Fadals I believe and haas. To name a couple.

I'm sure there are more.

I'm not a big fan of proprietary controls, especially fadal and haas as they are not very reliable machines to begin with.

CC can be a very tricky thing to deal with.

Anyone willing to chip in on this one?

Fadal definitely will accept cc on an arc but may or may not adjust to it depending what mood it's in.
