How useful are the Videos for X, SP1, and MR1?

A recent thread by TagrpSTi showed that quite a few are seat of the pants learners of software. That is understandable to me, since i tend to do the same thing. We'd like to get a little more information from you on this.

I never read books or directions.....well.... sometimes I skim over them when I get totaly stumped

 

Most of the time I just jump in with both feet and usually require a life preserver from time to time

I tend to jump in with both feet and only when I get stuck do I revert to help.

 

I do tend to go over the documentation of the What's new file, just to get an idea of What's new.

 

I for one believe there can never be too much information presented.

As for me I can only really learn to apply something if it is what I'm working on at this time, or if I have the opertunity to try out the process right now. Reading about , or watching videos of all the options will let me know they're out there but I wont remember how to use them till I need them.

I agree that its nice to see the videos to get an idea of what options are available, but don't really learn them until I actually use them several times.

As are the rest of the group, I believe most cnc programmers are tactile learners. Personally, I'm not a book person. I learn best from doing.

I'd like to be able to copy them to a DVD and watch 'em on the TV so I can get my kids learning too. Any way we can get these in MPEG format by chance???

Thanks for the Kudo's James, it's a surprising amount of work to do these but we think it's valuble for programmers under the gun.

 

Sorry, we can't help you on the Mpeg formats unfortunatly. With the exception of the Introduction to X Avi's, everything else has been rendered as flash files to keep the file sizes manageable.

To me if it's less than 4.7GB it's manageable.

I watched a few minutes of the Mill video here at home and will watch the whole thing when I have time at work. Looks pretty useful. I wish I had access to all this stuff back in versions 3-9, but had employers who didn't believe in learning on company time.
