Can someone convert a prt file for me?

It is not a pro e file. I opened it with word pad to see if there was any text that went in the code. This will give you a hint or actually tell you what software it was created on. All it said was MegaCad20. I have never heard of this. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

 

Has anyone else heard of this design package?

I googled Megacad and it does exist. Never heard of it though.

I tried the same thing as hevy metl, no luck. I tried cadkey, solidworks, notepad. I tried renaming as .mcx and .mc9 - both didn't work. I haven't heard of megacad20. Sorry.

I found a megacad website and it appears to have a viewer. Here is the translated page link (from german I think):

Look under downloads/freeware. It's the first on the list. Probably won't help translating the part but it'll let you see what it is!

It's possible your file is blank. I have tried to open it in several systems. I even sent the file to some "experts in the UK" and they could not open it. PRT can be either Pro-E or UG.

I can view it guys. The Megacad viewer I downloaded lets me see it. But all I can do is print it out. I had the guy who needs it ask for a different format.

When you recieved the data, was there another file with it. A *.pkg file. I recieve data like this all the time. It's an I-DEAS package file. You get a *.pkg file and either 1 or many *.prt files, and also sometimes *.asm files (for assemblies).

No, we don't currently support import of MegaCAD part files. It really has not been a priority. If we start seeing lots more of them, we will consider adding this functionality.

I'm not aware of any tools for saving MegaCAD parts as another format (except, of course, within MegaCAD itself). Unless someone out there has that product installed, you need to go back to your supplier and request a different format.

A .prt file is a part drawing from Solid Edge. It has to be opened in Solid Edge and then saved as iges or parasol file. Email it to me if you still need it and i,ii convert it for you.
