Dumb qustion

I was just wondering is someone could answer a question. I'm trying to send a machine to its home position between tool changes because of tool clearance on the tool change. I'm running a fadal 16x20 using fadal format one. Is there a g code command to send to the machine home position or possibly a m command?

Use an empty E number to send it out of the way and output that E# X0. Y0.

 

at every tool change

G53X0Y0. G53 uses machine coordinates (not fixture offsets or SETX/SETY). That way you don't have to cancel and recall an offset.

 

G53 is non modal, so it will only affect the line that it's on.

We've always edited the program manually when the situation arises. It happens maybe twice a year, so it's not a big deal. You could probably modify the post, but that is way over my head.
