So... I already know I'm going to be a bottom feeder here as the system I use at work isn't intended for heavy CAM work. We've run into a few customers that plan to use less-than-adequate systems to run their software, and this might be an indication of why that might not be such a good idea!

[Work desktop]

Dell Dimension 3000

Celeron 2.4

512MB Ram

Windows XP Pro

Onboard Intel 865 based graphics

>> ~17 minutes!

[Tablet PC] (for kicks... wasn't even sure if it would run!)

HP TC1100

Pentium M 1Ghz

1GB Ram

NVidia Geforce 2 Go 32MB

Seagate 80GB 5400rpm hdd

Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

>> 20:05 -- not bad for a 4 year old tablet!

[Home System] - for those that wanted AMD scores

Shuttle PC - Self Built

AMD X2 6000+

4GB Ram

ATI X1900XTX 512MB

Raptor 150GB 10k rpm

Windows Vista Ultimate

>> 7:20

All of them running Mastercam X2 MR2 SP1

PCPITSTOP.COM has a nice computer benchmark utility that I use to help keep my pc in top shape. There is a full test link on the left side of the home page. You have to register, but the only email I get from them is a newsletter that always comes with some neat tips and tricks. No real spam. It also records and keeps track of your computer score so you can see how certain changes can affect your computer performance.

My quad core scored a 5374. My P4 3ghz scored a 1700. Huge difference and shows in the toolpath processing as well. biggrin.gif

New motherboard (My Athlon FX60 died during a major overclocking test at 3.2ghz)

1st run: 6:27

Regen: 1:07

Intel 6850 Core2duo at 3ghz 4meg cache

4 gigs PC6400 ddr2 ram (OCZ)

2 250GB hard disk (SATA 300)

Nvidia 8600 GTS PCI-e x16

Vista Ultimate x64

I will give this a couple of days and see if I can OC to 3.3 ghz. 10% should be able to get me into the 5 minute range.

Well, clearly Ultimate Vista x64 at this point in time offers absolutely NO improvement speed wise over XP Pro.

Vista Ultimate x64

Q6600 2.4Ghz

4 gigs 800 Mhz Ram

Nvidia GTS8800 - 640megs

2 - 10rpm WD Raptors - RAID0

I really, really, really hope CNC offers multi core processor support in X3, if it does we should see these boxes with multiple cores start to scream.

Not a chance.

I benchmarked every computer in our training room and every one of the AMD was 7x times than that.

You've got something either preset or not set right.

You're using the same file we all used?

You've gone into the regen folder and cleaned out any of the regens?

Open the file change the filter to .0001 on all 3 paths and then run it?
