To Prune or Not to Prune

I'd like to free up some space on the server. I'm considering deleting old messages (which date back to 2002). May I?

how many of them still come to the forum? I was looking the other day in the directory from page 219 on has no posters.

There is good stuff archived in the general forum, some is worth saving. I think the off topic fourm could be cleaned out without deleting anything of value.

I'm with gcode; there are many threads on the O/T forum [or most of them] that nobody's going to miss. The "regular" forum history still contains good information and it shows the origins of this place; to me both of those things are worth saving.

I think that the V8 stuff is pretty irrelevant these days. Besides most people don't use the search feature anyway so they're just gonna ask the questions anyway.

 

I'm with deleting members that have not come in for 2 years or longer and/or have a zero post count.

Put limits on image size in signatures.

It might be good to wipe the OT forum completely, that would give a justified re-start to all the 30+ page threads (Saturday roll call) and other such things.... I am ok with the idea of dumping that for space.

And the image tags on sig's are not images on the server, they are links to photobucket...or wherever the host image is being held typically....

Sorry to say James, I have to say might actually be wrong on this one. I have used it 100's of times as I am sure other people have too.

 

I'd whack the ot threads first and go back as far as needed in the main forum as far as deleting stuff.

 

Besides if it was off topic, we'll just talk about it again.
