Tim - Yes they probably will be. While the forum data itself will be persistent, all of your bookmarks will be pointing to a location that no longer exists.

If you can, I would say record the titles of the threads you bookmarked, and then search for them after we make the switch and re-bookmark them.

Unfortunately, since bookmarks are on your end, there's not really any sort of way we can re-link up your bookmarks, without us having the old forum paths still on the server, which is a nightmare.

@Keith

When displaying things while maintaining source formatting in an area not large enough to display it - something has to give.

In the new forums, if a chunk of code (for example) is pasted in, the forum will wrap the text but in the case of a steady stream of characters, stretch to its width causing you to have to scroll the whole page to the right.

More ideally, if you use the Code button when inserting code, that portion of your post will display within a frame that allows you to scroll that area, leaving the rest of the thread in tact.

We are going to work with a company that specializes in these conversions rather than messing with it ourselves. The upside is of course hopefully having a clean conversion and losing as little data as possible. The downside is they're a M-F outfit.

If we do it on a Friday, there's no support over the weekend should something go wrong. The current thought is to try for a Thursday, if there are issues, iron them out Friday then we should be all systems go by the following Monday the latest.
