you can export iges or step and import that, but I don't think there is any way to bring in the toolpaths

off hand, I can't think of any CAM software that can import a competitors toolpaths

I think Work nc can with surfcam , but dont quote me on that...

save toolpath as geometry and bring it in to mastercam as iges.

 

Delete all the rapid moves.

 

run as contour with cc off and build your NCI.

I wonder if that means opene the CAD side of a Mastercam file or the the CAM side.

I'd be surprised if it could open toolpaths and even more surprised if it could save them back out as an mcx file.

I haven't seen a seat of Surfcam since 1999 so I have no idea awhat it can do these days

I couldnt open MC in surfcam back in 2003. (version)

We have an Surfacam seat here, Version V5.2

I just tried opening an MCX5 and MCX6 file and it wouldn't do it. Not sure if it has to be saved in another format but it won't open straight forward MC files. Add-on maybe?

I believe you can get geometry from any cnc code from a product called GeoPath FYI

I checked out Surfcam's V6 What's New file.

On the CAD translator page it lists Mastercam V8 through X6

It maked no mention of CAM and I'd be very surprised if it can import Mastercam toolpaths

THey"d have to licence the database to read the CAM I would think.
