Hey Trevor I lived in Florida for over 31 years and that storm is nothing to play with people will die and people will lose alot. If you live within 20 miles of the beach Pack up and get the hell out of dodge. I have seen many think they will brave one out this seem like one not to brave out. Get some duck tape and tape all your windows up and get all your stuff up in the air if in a flood plain. My prayers and wishes for things not to be bad go to all that is going to be effected by the storm.

Crazy Millman hope the heaven dont open up and drop to much down.

PS: Trevor I have friends that surfed Dora on 7th street at the Beach when it came through, Had other friends that went to Miami to help restore power when Andrew came through it was a bad as they showed on TV.

Hey Trevor:

When Hugo came thru South Carolina back in 1989, the wind was just unforgettable.....hour after hour of howling, so loud you could hardly believe it. It came thru in the middle of the night and when morning came, the destruction was just magnified by the dead silence. We were without electricity for three weeks. Everybody was grilling steaks and so forth before they could thaw and spoil. We rigged up a pump on a little John Deere riding mower in place of the mower deck and pumped water to our local neighborhood by connecting outside spigot to outside spigot. Folks would connect garden hoses end to end and then make the final connection with a washing machine hose, which is female on both ends. It was worth the trouble to be able to flush a toilet or take a (cold) shower.

Having some camping gear like a Coleman stove and lantern was nice, too, but so are simple candles and Sterno.

Best advice I can give you is to be super careful in everything you do the next few days. What would normally be no big deal can be a real big deal if you become isolated. In the weeks that follow, you'll hear about people cutting themselves with chainsaws and falling off roofs and ladders and all sorts of crazy accidents.

It'll be an adventure, that's for sure!

Yeah but you people get snow and we didn't in Florida very much. Like once every 10 years in Jacksonville, and you can have the lakes freezing over being snowed in your house freezing your a?? off I pass. I love the weather out here in southern Calforina. It is not hot and havs felt real good to me so far. I could use alot more sun. I have been told it is the worst weather in 40 years out here. confused.gifconfused.gif

Well I am glad it kicked down to 2 and still not the 5 it was still going to be not good but should be alot less now.

It is 10:30 am now. The rain is coming down pretty steadily and the wind has picked up quite a bit. It has to be at least 40-50 mph gusts. I don't see how some of these trees are still standing. They are so tall and skinny. Some look like they are folding in half. They will for sure be blown down when the strong winds come.

Trevor and Dan,

How close are Clayton and Mooresville from the ocean? Will you stay put during the storm or head inland? This may seem like a dumb question but do people still go to work when a storm like this is bearing down?

Sorry for the questions but my only hurricane experience is The wizard of oz and twister.

We are just north of Charlotte, Trevor is out by Raleigh. He is a couple 3 or 4 hours closer than we are. North Myrtle Beach is 3 hours from here, Cape Hatteras and the outter banks it about 8 hours away. I don't think we are going to get much more than some solid rain, Raleigh might get hit harder. As far as getting out of work because of the storm... Its gonna have to get pretty bad... We've got a lot to do. cool.gif

I was just on the phone with Walter Grinders in Fredricksburg, VA. They are closing there plant at noon there time and not resuming there operations until noon tomarrow. They sound like they are gonna get hit pretty bad, according to them. I will be thinking of ALL of you in the path of this storm. They say everything has a purpose, or a reason behind it, hope you all kind find some light at the eye of the storm.
