Little help with modeling

Yes I see your delima....a puzzle indeed.....You must really use the WCS to do this one...make custom planes....do some tricky business...

First I drew the hex shape in plan then projected it to 16 degree surface.

Then I projected the green onto the top, projected the red onto the 16 degree surface, drew line from mid to mid and made custom planes then analyzed angle...it was 11.292 so I had to rotate the lines to 11.5 then trim to top plane then move projected lines from mid to mid...trim...ruled...done...

That hex is not exactly a hex...

Draw the hex at the angle needed. Extrude outward with the 11.5 deg draft thin wall. Trim to the plane of the flange and then make the glance and Boolean add together. Maybe a 5 minute modeling job in Mastercam. NX you blink your eye and dream it and it is done or that is what I dream can happen so it must be real.

LOL

I really like NX but had to give my boss a little lesson a few days back on just how quick i could get something done.

Literally 10mins and I had posted code for him for a job that gets killed in NX

They both did the exact same job, posted good code

but some thing can be done so much faster

Someone has to spend time in NX day to day in order too appreciate how quick MasterCam is.

Im lucky to be able to use both

No, its more like a irregular octagon.  I can see the programing being a piece of cake, but the modelling... I was doing what you did, I was just hoping there'd be an easier way.  Ill probably just do it myself following what you did so I learn, thanks!

My description sounded complicated, but it was really only a 30 min job.

Sorry I was gone fishing for the weekend.

But I see you got all the help you needed..

Good thing too because I made a whopping huge error ...

Its MasterCam not MasterCad

I doubt you even use NX, just hear what your injuneers tell you.

I do design in NX also and wouldnt consider using MC

Find someone else to annoy, it dont work with me

Hell, I don't know what you guys are failing at but I can even make coffee with Mastercam.

But as mentioned, it's not Mastercoffee so I usually use a coffee pot. However, if it's all you've got you gotta use it.

Thanks guys! I figured it out with everyones help, and I learned a few things along the way.  What I ended up doing is I projected the "octagon" at 11.5 degrees and then I trimed the one wall at 16 degrees, cant take credit for the idea though.
