R-Plane

Well here it dpeends on how you set it up. Are you using absoulte or incremental for the control. It would have soemthing to do with the Drilling cycle you are using also. My question would be what type of controls are you trying to get to for the R plane with respect to G98 or G99 for that canned cycle you are using.

Also Welcome to the Forum.

Mike, if you are using a flat 2d drawing, you will need a saparate opp for each depth change to force the R plane. translate your geomertry to the Z depth to where you want it. set top of stock to abs. set retract to inc and depth to inc, then you will get all the R planes in one drill opp with multi Z plane depths

Well May^Day the way my post is set up I get multi R planes as well as multi Z depths when using the edit depths for the drilling something I really like a lot now since I started using it about 2 motnhs ago. I think the best way we can help you is to have a sample file of what you are trying to do and some posted code and then some code of what you are looking for. We will be waiting for your response.

Right on Thad,

I have encountered the same thing. When using incremental values, all the depths are given from the Z depth that your hole is drawn at in MCAM. I wonder why though, it is kind of funny that it does not take into account the Top of stock value that you put in.

Have a nice day,

It will if you add that to the post I went back and added that line to Mpmaster that is why my post does it the way I want even with Transform I get my top of stock for my retract beweetn fixture offsets but still get my R vaules at different depths as well as Z vaules at different depths also. The MPMASTER just does play nice with drilling at different depths so I just added the code I needed and got a kick but way of doing alot of different things and different depths using only one operation to do so. It also works good with tapping.

Man.... how on earth did you accomplish this? This is one of my biggest peeves with this software. I do alot of programming where I only have a 2d drawing and I have to use the 'Edit Depth' feature to get the depths I want. Problem is there is no option to make the feed plane go where I want until after I post the code and manually edit the R plane in.

We need an option under the 'Point Edit' menu to allow us to change the feed plane as well as the depth.

Here is an exmaple of what I am talking about and see if that is what you want it to do.
