Do you have a 3D license?

File works here on both 2023 and 2024...and everything before those. Would be very surprised if it just 'broke' for no reason.

Yes I have 3D and multiaxis here. The file worked when I used it the last time on MC 2022.

I tried a few things yesterday but can't get the hybrid OP to regen. I usually work with MM not inch maybe it's loading some weird settings altough Mastercam asks about chaning to inch when loading the file.

This seems a bit faster than some of what I'm seeing, am I calculating this wrong?  I'm seeing 81sec from start to finish?  I see the fella above with a 13900 over 120sec and if I'm going to build these guys what they need I want to make sure I'm comparing things the same.

Make sure you shut MC down and empty your Mastercam TEMP folder between runs.

The regen files are stored there and you will better times on subsequent runs because

Mastercam doesn't have to reproduce them

Also make sure the tolerance is set to .0001 in all the operations

I updated my home PC to Win11 a couple of weeks ago

I have not had any troubles with Mastercam or any of my other CAD/CAM software

I'll run the benchmark file on it and see if there is any difference between Win10 and 11

That seems pretty slow, did you benchmark this system before?

Windows 11 fresh install - 03:54 :(

Dell Precision 7750 Mobile Workstation
Intel Core i9-10885H @2.4GHz
64GB RAM DDR4 @3200 MHz
NVidia Quadro RTX 4000
Samsung 990 EVO Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD
3D Connexion SpaceNavigator
Windows 11 Pro
Mastercam 2023 Update 3

and getting slower... 😮

It should definitely be faster...

Edit:

I ran it setting Mastercam to High Priority and it dropped 20 seconds off the time, but it was still 4:01.

I won't be using Win 11 for many reasons. Mostly because they took away another large set of customizability. They're going the way of the Macintosh.

The Task Bar absolutely sucks and is locked to the bottom of the screen and you can't drag stuff to it.

The Start Menu is unfriendly as hell and I've had ads on it. WTF? I paid for this xxxx!

They force you to create a Microcrap account.

They force you to use their TPM crap.

The context menus are crap.

They push their crappy Edge browser like they did Internet Exploder.

Most of this is non-negotiable for me. You all know how long I ran with WinXP right?

My home machine ran the Benchmark in 3 min 38 seconds

Its a Boxx Apex 3 running a i9-9900K liquid cooled processor,

OC'd to 5 GHZ with 96g of ram

OS is Win 11 Pro

My work rig is about 18 months newer than my home machine

it's i9-11900 chip has a Passmark Score  of 25462

My home rig with it's i9-9900K has a PassMark score of 18.469

That is too much difference to make any judgement on whether Mastercam runs faster

or slower on Win11 vrs Win 10

This pushed me over to Linux at home, haven't used Windows in 6 months. Too bad most CAD/CAM software is Windows only

I went to my dealer's 2024 Rollout this week.

They made a big deal about how much faster 2024 was compared to 2023.

I ran the Benchmark file in both to test this.

I have noticed 2024 is faster in some toolpaths, the Module Works 5X tool paths for example.

2024 is not faster running this benchmark file.

On my work machine

2023 ran in 2:40

2024 ran in 2:41

I have a couple of linux boxes at home. I really can't stand windows any more but like you say, most CAD/CAM software is windows only so they have you by the short-n-curlies.

All those extra goodies they put into the toolpaths every year take extra time to calculate, eg leads, retracts, etc.

In my limited research, I've found 2021 to be the fastest version...at least for this benchmark file. Things may be different with other toolpaths and other systems.

Question is, are you ok with with more toolpath control in exchange for calc time? I think we mostly are, specially if we are running the latest and greatest CPUs which make this lost time almost a non factor...think running mcam2021 on an intel 10th gen (greatest CPU at that time) vs mcam2024 on intel 13th gen (best now). The newer chip is so much faster that the toolpath with more information to crunch will take less time.

Numbers for me today with this file, sample size of 1....

2021 3:25

2024 3:40

Yeah, for the most part, the motion control trumps the calculation time at this point. Also, it's pretty rare that I'm setting tolerances down much below 5-10µm (.00019-.00039).  .0001" is about 2.5µm.

I forgot to mention that this machine came from Xi Computers of San Clemente CA.

I bought it with this ridiculous case that's twice the size of a normal case.

Here at the office, I don't notice the noise my BOXX PC makes cause it's noisy in here all the time.

At my home office, my old BOXX PC sounds like fighter jet spooling up for takeoff.

I can't even tell  this new Xi machine is running.

Got my new PC this week

I'm still putting it together but I ran the benchmark last night in 2024

Good solid choice.

I would have gotten the 128gb of memory and the 2tb 990 Pro drives.

Glad the side hustle is still going well for you.

Here is the Laptop I would get from them. About $1000 cheaper than Dell.
