Nice machine, where did you buy it??

I would've gone with Xi per your recommendation. But our IT guy quoted and ordered it for me. He went with Boxx

Agree with Gcode impressive time.

I wasn't sure what number I was supposed to go by, the "time" column or "total time" column? Either way I was impressed

Find an online time calculator

Subtract the Regen line  (2nd from the top)

from  the last line   = 1 minute 55 seconds... nice !!!

From Boxx, that probably came in at about $8k

I'm guessing about $5.5K from Xi

To be honest it came in around $5.6K

As far as I know he didn't get multiple quotes, would've been interesting to see where Xi was at

Maybe Boxx has backed off some on their pricing.

or   maybe they figured that as a 10 year customer, I was not price sensitive,

The last time I called then was during covid, my regular sales rep was gone and the guy helping

me was acting like a used car salesman, I haven't called them since.

Just pulled the trigger on a new rig.

i9 - 13900,  NVIDIA RTX 5000, 128 RAM, 1tb ssd - 2 ea. , Windows 11.

Boxx - $7,612

Titan - $5,510

Xi - $5,463

I'm replacing a Titan I bought in 2017.  I had a couple issues early on but their customer service was good so I have no complaints.

I went with Xi this time mainly because of the good buying experience...and gcode vouching for them.  Their rep was responsive and helpful with a faster lead-time.

I just ran a benchmark test for the first time and it seems quite slow for the computers specs, based on seeing other getting much faster times with much older (and seemingly lesser) computers. Are there settings I'm missing, not just within mastercam, but in general? I have the multi-threading priority set to high and memory buffering at 90%.

I also ran this benchmark with mastercam being the only open application.

CPU: i9-13900K factory clock speed. I haven't overclocked anything before.

Memory: 32GB 4400MHz DDR5

SSD: NVMe PM9A1 Samsung 512GB

GPU: RTX A2000 12GB

Edit: If you can't see the times, it came in at over 5 minutes.

So far in my testing, Mastercam 2025 is massively slower on this file compared to previous versions. ~30% slower than 2024. With that big of a drop, I expect this is unintended. 1-2% here and there for extra goodies in the toolpaths, sure, but this is a huge chunk of time!

No idea why this is the case. The last op to complete in this file, the OptiRest, its the one increasing calc times. Oddly, the OptiRough is relatively the same, so the stock model is causing it? Hopefully patch 1 fixes whatever is going on here.

Should also note a new item shows in the log for 2025...

UBVS started mw/moduleworks:customer/mastercam/release_2025

Can't point fingers without knowing more but when something new shows up and suddenly things slow to a crawl, makes ya wonder.

To put everyone at ease who is testing with 2025 and seeing slower times than expected, its not your rig! Here's some numbers from my build, same rig for all tests....

2020-3:12

2021-3:00

2022-3:10

2023-3:34

2024-3:36

2025-4:48

It's a long thread, but here is the answer

Quote

As for the regeneration time increase. There is/are significantly more motion/points produced by operation 3 Optirest in MC2025 (112,000 K) than there is in MC2024(83,000 K). So, a direct comparison of the regen times is not telling us the whole story. It likely takes longer because there is/are more toolpath/points being created. I am not sure yet what caused op3 to create more motion. I will investigate this further.
