  1. This can be done quite easily without actually editing the post if you are using a modern post If you are using a modern post with the coolant switch NOT set to "support coolant using coolant value in post-processor" Go into the machine definition and then the General Machine Parameters and select the Coolant command tab. Click on one of the unused coolant event and type in something like: Flood with dwell. In the Enable field type in the command the way you want to see it. for example M08 G4 P500 Exit out of the machine Definition, saving as you go and allowing Mastercam to reload the machine definition. Now when you go into the parameters for the operation where you want the coolant to dwell, you can select the coolant option "Flood with dwell" and you probably will want to select "After" so that the coolant on with dwell will be on a line of its own. This is a pretty slick way of doing it, because you can post your coolant command with or without the dwell by operation.

  2. Hello eMastercam, I've been working on a pet project that I think could be beneficial to some Mastercam users. Quick Parameters is a NET-hook that consists of a single modeless window displaying a subset of the selected operation's parameters. **Please note, this only works for operations that the NET-Hook API knows about. This means that it will not work on lathe or wire operations. To install, copy the files from the QuickParameters.zip archive attached to this post to the following locations; Copy 'Xceed.Wpf.Toolkit.dll' to the Mastercam install directory, typically 'C:\Program Files\Mcam2019' Copy 'GalaSoft.MvvmLight.dll', 'QuickParameters.dll', and 'QuickParameters.ft' to Mastercam's chook directory, typically 'C:\Program Files\Mcam2019\chooks' You can grab the source on my Githib. A brief gif showing it's functionality. Right-click to customize the display colors. Feedback of any kind is always helpful. QuickParameters.zip

  4. Download Inventor view and you should be able to open IPT files , https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-inventor-view-2019.html

  5. Ive not had trouble directly importing or opening native Inventor files into MCam 2019. Edit: just realized the only way it opens them is having Inventor installed on the local disk

  6. Probably not, there are several "native" CAD types which require a specific reader, CATIA being the most used in aerospace, yours requires an Autiocad Inventor reader. I don't think there is an MC add on, could be wrong tho'. The easiest fix is to get them to save them as parasolid .x_t files, which is the best file transfer protocol, and get them to send them to you in that format.

  7. custom tool holder database +1 Since I have set mine up and numbered them (we have few machines) it's saved an untold amount of time. Now i use assemblies more though, which is even faster

  8. If I understand your question, yes. If you want to do multiple lines, you can use several of the custom fields. The output will be sequential. I haven't investigated doing this before. I really don't know what the limitations are.

  9. These are nice looking Contour heads they offer. Probably the biggest 4th Axis I have every seen.

  11. Colin, You did an excellent job on describing in detail how to go about this. Very easy for me to follow. Thanks for your teachings sensei!! Very much appreciated!! I can't wait to try it out on 2019 version. Cam

  12. I think helix bore is great for roughing and finishing holes...a very reliable toolpath as it always does what I want it to. I can understand your frustrations about angle/pitch. I have got used to using the pitch now, and i'll roughly put in a pitch that I think would be appropriate, then look at the graphic and see how the helix looks, and if the spiral is too steep for the diameter, i'll decrease it and vice versa. This is for solid carbide tools, I usually will stay a bit below 3 degrees...more like 1.5.

  13. Chipman always look to what the manufacture say is the ramp angle the endmill will allow and then go from there. I always like to stay below the recommend chip angle. A lot of it comes down to experience and also what you are going to be cutting. Aluminum I get crazy with it since as long as the tool is moving it is cutting, then go to some 55RC I go the opposite direction and get cautious. Rule of thumb for me is what would be my depth of cut on the endmill and then how much area do I have ot allow that to happen. 1/8 endmill going into a .15 hole not much room need to take it easy. 3/4 endmill going into a 1.25 hole I do it differently. Other factors are do I have thru the spindle coolant, is it high pressure or regular? Are you using a 2,3,4,5,8 or 10 flute endmill. Is it solid carbide end mil or an inserted endmill? Rules are funny things in my book yes I am glad we have them to follow, but sometimes you just to pay attention to what your machine, tool, set-up and material are telling you. A good programmer goes out to the machine and learns from the machine as much as they learn from the program. I pay attention to the chips, the cutter and everything else and make a mental note okay that worked or that failed. Yes we all have failed yes I got my share of mistakes and yes my hum should have not done that moments.

  14. That seems possible, but you'd think Samsung would be proud of their brand and not try to hide it under some lame half baked website
