  1. Suggest to use the Misc Ops where you can "Flip" a part for operation 20. Now create a tool group with the required toolpaths.
  2. MDF - I am please that the Auction Site had the integrity to refund your purchase. I also hope that they learned a valuable lesson in business - understand that which you sell. One day you will realize your dream of your own seat, you will just have to pay for it though (Or get your company to buy it for you!)
  3. Disable stock recognition... I don't know if this is the problem, but this little feature can make some really neat moves. The problem is that user must understand and respect its power.
  4. I don't know anything about comm protocall but did get lucky once by finding a 25 pin Dhood on a board that the old tape reader plugged into on a general automation control. I plugged it to a serial comm port on an old DOS computer and the dam things talked to one another! The Transformer issue is something that you Need to do properly. Call your local Electrical Supply house (Westburne or Gerrie Electric here in Ontario Canada) and tell them what you have. For a hobby machine the price may be steep but then you won't burn the house down. I always wanted something like this for my place, but alas - I got married and now I am a third class citizen (behind my Son and Wife in that order!)...
  5. There are several grinding operations on the tapers - Both the Cat40 and the collet opening. The general form of the taper can be found inside the Machinery's Handbook. Check the purchase price on a "Tooling package" from Kennametal or Parlec as they may extend additional discounts for a bulk purchase. The toolholder is a limiting factor into the level of quality the final part will have - remember Garbage In - Garbage Out... So if you can't make it better than the next guy, Don't!
  6. Bullines has corrected my geography mistake, imagine my shock when on the way to work this morning a CBC reporter on the radio was covering an election victory for the Yukon Party. She signed off from Whitehorse! I didn't get the gold star when I was six, and it still isn't shining now. This Pinewood or CubCar Rally was a highlight of my childhood as well, and we never cheated...
  7. Fatty, Guess the Ice Cream wouldn't melt that fast in the Yukon Territory, (this is actually where Yellow Knife is!) -40 Degrees will keep it nice and fresh in January. A more appropriate home town would be xxxx Saskatchewan - or Goose-yer-gramma NewFoundLand. [ 11-04-2002, 03:17 PM: Message edited by: Andrew McRae ]
  8. You sir have just been taken... You don't own software, you licence its use. What you now need to do is contact a local Mastercam Reseller and open you check book. What you should also do is launch a legal suit against the auctioneer and get your money back. They should have Known Better.
  9. Kirksite - Metalform Forum Check this out.
  10. Your Dealer is LAZY... This is not normal, if you paid for a tool changer, then the machine must tool change!
  11. See the file on CADCAM's FTP marked "Screen.jpg" in the Jpeg Folder. Look at my settings and see how it's done.
  12. See the file on CADCAM's FTP marked "Screen.jpg" in the Jpeg Folder. Look at my settings and see how it's done.
  13. Use the canned text tab in the tool path of interest. It will give options to insert before or after. Check it out - It can also be customized with the post.txt file. _________________________________________________ On re-reading the post - I noticed WireEDM. I don't have an active copy of Wire so I can't verify this technique, it does however exist in Mill and Lathe - (Anyone for Router??) [ 11-04-2002, 08:52 AM: Message edited by: Andrew McRae ]
  14. If this has been a problem since day 1 - check that you are using the correct retention knob. There is a possibility that the knob geometry is off. What about other mechanical interference, have the collet fingers bent? Is the mechansim adjusted correctly? Get a QUALIFIED electro/mechanic technician to give her a once over.
  15. There are forum use guidelines already espablished. Web forum host guys, would it be possible to make the new recruits at least jump to this page first? RTFF - Read the Flipping Forum...
  16. Don't know the thread, but... Suggest that the retnetion collet assembly be adjusted. There shoud be a mechanism that gives the retetion know a little Pop - to break the taper during tool change. Is there a lot of Heat transfer into the spindle during this roughing??
  17. Excellent, Between points will give the incremental distance between the startpoint and the centerpoint as required. So there Laz - Larry has just solved your problem. Sorry for typing with my mouth full, anyone have a good recipe for Crow? Best Regards, [ 11-01-2002, 02:52 PM: Message edited by: Andrew McRae ]
  18. Jay, The root question is - Will mastercam give IJK values in Draft/Design. The answer we have given him should be - No! Not without analysing the centrepoint and the start point and then punching into the calculator to find the ordinates. The greater help would be to give him information to upgrade to Mill Entry.
  19. Jerry, In stead of using V6 techniques, use the V9 associative feature and import operation techniques to show your guys how to program in minutes rather than days. Open design model, import operations, select geometry, regen path, save file, post, cut part, ship part, send invoice, cash cheque!
  20. Curious to know what the part looked like. Were there some nice surfaces that you could have used flow5ax for and then follow the settings to get the desired toolpath. Using pivot axis or pivot points, you may be able to get the specfic code that you want. Is this helix at a constant Z or do you need to actually put it on the taper of the cone? Here is another question - In Australia, (the Southern Hemisphere), do your rotary axes rotate opposite to the way ours does in the Northern Hemisphere???
  21. There are some available out there, use google and see what you can find. I haven't looked for this for about 2years so I can't recommend anything firsthand.
  22. Laz - Believe it or not, I am a middle man between the Customer and the Shop as well, I verify prints to see that there is sufficient infomation to manufacture a part and if there is not - to seek out and determine the information required. (Contract Review - Non Value Added) I also create Manufacturing Plans, generate, verify, and optimize tool paths offline with Mastercam (Value Added). One of my core functions is Continuous Improvement - Eliminating waste in the value stream. Not just accepting how it is, but also researching and implementing systems for "How it could - or should Be". (Extreme value added - we keep this extra profit!) You have a responsibility to your employer to educate them that there is waste in their value stream by having duplication of effort (between you and the shop floor). Get a hold of a demo copy of Mastercam and show your company how it could be - sure you could go on calculating I,J,K by hand with an analyse function and a calculator, but so could someone else. Help the company grow and gain market share. Otherwise - See you at the Auction... BTW - These other fellows "Know it alls... Primadonnas... or what ever..." they are your competitors! To survive, know more than the next guy. "Purchase or be Purchased". [ 11-01-2002, 12:30 PM: Message edited by: Andrew McRae ]
  23. Jack, The Internet is your best friend... There is an old distributor of Monarch Machines in Cincinati with serveral of these surplus holders rusting away on his shelf. At a substantial saving, I purchased those. Thanks,
  24. It's Windy and its Halloween, of coarse my Cape is taped down..
  25. Check your inbox, sepcify helix bore toolpath and look on the last page. There is a switch for the output type. I also used MPMASTER as the post and it gave what we wanted. Change IJ to R if you like. There is an arc filter that you can use in surface toolpaths and this is similar. Note - I have a nightmare trying to get a valid Pro/E post for this but the Mighty MPMASTER (Free I might add) is bullet proof.
