  1. Slick, I have machinied loads of this stuff. We use Prototyp and OSG Ultra FX coated carbide for roughing and CBN for finishing. Don't even bother with anything else as you will be wasting your cash.
  2. Some horizontals have the same axis orientation as verticals. We have a Makino A77, The Z axis is into the job , So it takes exactly the same program as a vertical. I have also seen horizontals where the Y axis is into the job so it depends on who made the machine and how they set it up Good luck.
  3. quote: ball bar testing Do you mean lead screw? As for performing a G03/G02 funtion all Fanuc controlers that I have used can do this by simply removing the M03 command.
  4. James, quote: I have the other views (rt. side, back, bottom, etc... on my button bar. How can I do this? Thanks in advance
  5. Speaking of work we have plenty here at the moment, Mostly in Medical and our own forge products
  6. Hugh, Start by, Screen Configure Change the pulldown menu on the allocations page to metric and also the pulldown menu on the start exit page to metric. Mastercam will then boot up in metric, As for the tool library I can't help you there as I don't have Lathe
  7. Hi, I have 1 Gig of RAM with the following settings 32000 64000 1000 256000 256000 This allocates about 560mb to mastercam, Works fine.
  8. Shirl1 I use Kenneth Potters method I find that this way works best for me.
  9. Hi, Why bother with Ideas when it has already started it,s intergration with UG, My 5 cents worth says just go straight to UG.
  10. Hi, Your reseller has hundreds of them, He will even customize it for you.
  11. Fred, I may be wrong but I think that the file you speak off is the same as the one on the V9.0 SP1 CD. Which I have used for my current install.
  12. Hi, quote: I'll stick with my RS232 If you do this you will never have the joy of high speed machining! Ethernet is the only way to go.
  13. Hi, I use Inventer 5.3 for some of my design work and I have found that the .IPT converter in Mastercam does not work very well, Get the designer to output a .SAT file. I have had no problems with this format. P.S And yes I have reported this problem to my reseller.
  14. Scott, I use the standard Cimco editer to transfer to the older Fanuc machines, Works a treat.
  15. John, I would add a dwell block G04 X(time in seconds), That's if your controller is Fanuc.
  16. Oz, You have two choices when saving files, CAPITALS or CAPITALS that are later renamed to lowercase. I have the same issue, it's rather annoying.
  17. Marc, I like you only get the drop down menu, This feature if I can get it to work looks like somthing that I might be able to use.
  18. Stephen, Save your Mill9.cfg file from the mill9 directory, You may also want to save any tool librarys and operation librarys that you have set up.
  19. James, Where can I find this NWD filter that you speak of?
  20. Jay, I think that is what it is called, I would like to set the folder options to Thumbnails and have a picture of the part. Is this possible?
  21. Hi all, In windows 2000 is it possible to have a small thumbnail picture in windows explorer, Such as the one Inventor uses. I am reasonably sure this can be done but I cannot remember how.
  22. Ernie, Are after a smooth uniform part with no visible deformititys such as facets or wave forms? If so you need to look very hard at how the original model was created, In what system?, using what formula? and most importantly to what tolerance. Also how is the part translated into Mastercam, If you have used IGES, This may be your problem. To machine parts to a very high surface finish all of these aspects need very close examination.
