  1. Watch out for that drop bear, Let me guess you are using the Heidenhain post from the version 9 or 8 cd, and if you do a 2d pocket with the same feed rate as plunge rate then you get no feed rate output in the program so hence the machine defaults to rapid. How am I going? I will save you the headache and the time that it took me to work this baby out. change pfr in your post to this note the # sections are already there, putting this (#) infront of the block means that the post will not read that line pfr # Feedrate #if fr >= zero, fr2 = fr #if gcode = zero, fr2 = zero #if fr2 > zero, strf, fr2 #if fr2 = zero, strf, smax if fr = -2, [ if prv_fr <> fr, "F 9999" prv_fr_pos = -9999 ] else, fr_pos !fr Note that I use F9999 not FMAX and add this to the format statments fmt F 5 fr_pos works perfect
  2. Hi all, There are many different ways to set the work offsets in the machine, We do it a little differently to the ways mentioned above. We use a block about 100mm, the height of the block is not important, We then measure with an indicator in the machine spindle, using the machine relative co-ordinate system from the Z0 of the job to the top of the block this value goes into G54 Z, All tools in the machine are measured from the home posistion of Z to the top of the block this value goes into the tool length offset. I know that this sounds a little complex and the reason that we do it this way is so that any tool that is in the magazine can be used on any job without changing any tool length offsets. Hope that this helps
  3. Well I have to agree you guys we have surfcam99 and the only good thing that I can say about it is the SEDIT editor, it has one handy feature a default caps lock, so any text you type in is automatically converted to capitals, it makes no difference if the caps lock is on or not. pretty handy feature.
  4. Kevin, Change your post to look like this code: pwcs #G54+ coordinate setting at toolchange if mi1 > one, [ sav_frc_wcs = force_wcs if sub_level, force_wcs = zero if workofs <> prv_workofs | (force_wcs & toolchng), [ if sub_level, result = mprint(swrkserror) if workofs >53 , [ g_wcs = workofs # +54 *g_wcs ] else, [ g_wcs = 54 *g_wcs ] ] force_wcs = sav_frc_wcs !workofs ] I have copied this out of my edited mpfan post, Leaving the default value of -1 in the work offsets will give you G54 or simply type in the work offset that you want G54, G55, G56 and so on Hope this helps [ 05-10-2002, 09:43 AM: Message edited by: Dave Thomson ]
  5. oppiz, I'm glad that I could help. by the way cool and witty name Zippo backwards.
  6. Parasolid works best for me, I only use IGES when getting a file from PRO-E.
  7. Hi, We use both the Kaiser and the Iscar bore system, both are very good but not cheap, The Iscar system is more universal than the kaisers but is much bigger and not as easy to use.
  8. OPPIZ change pfr to this pfr # Feedrate #if fr >= zero, fr2 = fr #if gcode = zero, fr2 = zero #if fr2 > zero, strf, fr2 #if fr2 = zero, strf, smax if fr = -2, [ if prv_fr <> fr, "F 9999" prv_fr_pos = -9999 ] else, fr_pos !fr and add this to the format statments fmt F 5 fr_pos works perfect
  9. oppiz I also had this problem with the V9 post, you need to edit the pfr statment in the post I can't recall of the top of my head exactly what I changed it to. I can tell you when I return to work on Monday.
  10. Hi, I agree with Mick UG is a fantastic design tool but it,s NC machining is very frustrating to use, not to mention the price of the thing. Ouch! [ 05-04-2002, 04:45 AM: Message edited by: Budgie ]
  11. Hi, I agree with Steve the less waste of paper the better, I have a few programs that use 80+ tools so the HTML setup sheet is a no no for me. I use the Mill2.set setup sheet together with an excel file with the cutter lengths.
  12. Hi, I believe that all toolholders that spin at more than 6000 RPM should be balanced, My tests show that there are benefits in toollife and surface finish with Balanced holders. I am not a fan of shinkfits as they have a short life, after the cutter has been changed a number of times they start running out. We use BIG collet chucks 2um runout and balanced to 30K. We work with very small cutters 0006" so runout and balancing are the biggest issues for us.
  13. Hi, Try Dave Harris (DEK Tooling) 0412009582 he knows where to get everything tooling related
  14. Bob, Sorry Bob but Tom Boonen was 3rd in Paris-Roubaix. [ 04-16-2002, 04:10 PM: Message edited by: Greg W ]
  15. Hi, I agree with Keith, We also have a surface grinder, What a piece of crap! Give this brand a wide berth.
  16. Don't forget Kangaroo's and wombats are meat eaters
  17. Hi, I did edit a post for a guy to use a 10T in metric. I started with the standard MPLFAN post and if I remember correctly there are not many mods required. I know this does not really help you but as the saying geos you have got to start somewhere.
  18. Hi, I have recently started using XP Home, No problems so far, However you should give the ATI card a wide berth.
  19. Sorry my mistake, I've found what you are talking about. You will need to edit this post Change line No 213 Was: smax MAX To: smax 9999 then it works fine.
  20. Hi, My educated guess is that you are chaining splines not arcs and lines. Splines will give you lots and lots of tinys moves that slowes the controller.
  21. Hi, We have a 151 controller, I use the post of the V9 CD which works fine (with a few mods to make it metric) However I am not sure if there are any differences between 150 and 151 controlers.
  22. Mastercam dealer in Australia is Bob Hill 0408979184
  23. No need to Yell, For what version? Metric or inch? you need to be a little more specific.
  24. James, All remarks are accepted in a constuctive way.
