Hi all,
I have a question regarding arc checking, The default setting in MPFAN is to convert small arcs (>0.002) to straight line moves (see below) which leads me to ask, How does the post now if the file is metric or imperial? and do you guys leave these settings as the defaults or do you tighten them up?
I am not having any problems i'm just interested.
arccheck : 1 #Check for small arcs, convert to linear
atol : .01 #Angularity tolerance for arccheck = 2
ltol : .002 #Length tolerance for arccheck = 1
ltol_m : .05 #Length tolerance for arccheck = 1, metric
mmm,
You people are making me a little worried, luckly my little sweety just turned 3, so that gives me some time to choose between the Aluminium or the trusty timber model
Charles,
I can't comment on a Haas as I have never seen one, But I do agree with Kevin, Buy the best machine that you can afford, If that is a Haas so be it, but get all the options that you can afford, For mould work a Hard drive server and the machine specific look ahead functions are a must, Go for a HSK, Bigplus or some other face contact arbour system, You won't be sorry.
A 30K spindle is nice but a 15k will do the job if that is all your budget allows for, Good luck
Nate,
Personally I think that 1=G54 2=G55 so on is a pain in the butt I prefer the second option of 54=G54 55=G55 and so on I find this much easier. The only problem is that you need to edit your post to look like this
pwcs #G53+ coordinate setting at toolchange
if mi1 > one,
[
sav_frc_wcs = force_wcs
if sub_level, force_wcs = zero
if workofs <> prv_workofs | (force_wcs & toolchng),
[
if workofs > 53,
[
g_wcs = workofs # + 53
*g_wcs
]
else,
[
g_wcs = 54
*g_wcs
]
]
force_wcs = sav_frc_wcs
!workofs
]
You will notice that this post will not output G54.1 which is how I want it as I never use G54.1
Claus,
The only reason that cycling has so many doping scandals is because they are one of the few sports that actually tests for all illegal substances in the system. There are many other sports that turn a blind eye to this sort of thing, when was the last time you heard of a distance runner testing postitive to EPO, Ah that's right no testing for that, or what about a baseballer, you know the ones with arms the same size as my legs. of course its only mothers fine cooking, should I even mention pistol shooting and beta blockers. Ah I could go on all day.
My advice to you Claus is that, he who sells software should stay out of issues that are close to peoples heart like this one.

Become UG for design,
Remain as Mastercam for machining,
And of course the price to stay the same as the current V9 price

My IT guy has recomended that I get a new pc (about time too), He has quoted a Quadro2 pro graphics card with win2000 pro. Has anyone here had any problems with this setup, I will be running Mcam V9 and Solidworks. Thanks for your help on this never ending question.
I have also had this problem I downloaded the latest inventor patch (all 27 megs of it) from the mastercam web site however I am unable to unzip it. I am not sure if there is a problem with the file or a problem with my companys download screen. Has anyone else had this problem
Jay,
I am not allowed to send the actual file, but I will construct something similar and forward that to you. Thanks for the help

James,
Thanks for your reply, your spot on again, yes I do check it under a Microscope and this other dandy non contact measuring thing we have called a Smartscope. It's quite amazing what you can see and measure at 800 to 1 Magnification. I guess that I have reached the limitations of Mastercams verify so I perhaps need to take a look at something else maybe Predator or Vericut. Has anyone else tried doing something like this with any of the verification products that are currently out there? Thanks in advance
Hi Mark,
I tried that, the resolution is better after clicking that button, but still not good enough.
This part is a (metric) 0.55 rad 0.55 deep in a mould cavity that is cut with a 0.152 ballnose cutter
I think it is some sort of eyesight test!
Hi,
I am currently using V9 SP1. Is it possible to change the size of the pixels when zooming in on the verifed part, I have machined some small rads and when I zoom in the part looks like a Hexagon not a Radius. The display control is set to full quality using true solid in turbo mode. Any Ideas.

Hi guys,
I am using V9 with the MPFAN post from the V8 CD, I have done a lot of editing to this post to custimize it to my liking, there is just one more thing that is bugging me and I cant work it out. We use Makino's and this type of machine uses a code (G05 P10000) to turn on the high speed milling mode.
So I edited the text file for mi8 so that 1=on and 0=off, cool so far.
I added to the post a comment to PSOF and the toolchange where I wanted it to come out
if mi8>=one, n, "G05P10000", e
still going good as this turns on the mode no problems.
Now for the hard bit turning it off I added a line to Pretact
if mi8 >= one, "G05P0", e
this works fine if the next tool has a value of one in mi8, if it does not then no code is output.
So the real question is how do I save the value that was previously in mi8 as it seems that in pretact the misc values are taken from the next tool. Hope this mumbo jumbo makes sense.
