  1. Where in my post do I change the dwell in my drilling ops to not output a decimal. I have tried some things doing a search but they didn't work or I was putting them in in the wrong place.
  2. I've had ours done here and at other places. They do a complete check on taper, pull strength and everything. Worth every penny. If he crashed it that hard I wouldn't be surprised if some of the washers in the pull bar are not busted and your not getting an even clamp on pull stud. By the way. If all things are considered. To have it done for under $1000 is worth every penny. I think the avg price here was around $600 per. If you had any chatter from that machine in the past, this may well take care of some, if not all, of the chatter.
  3. Very good daved. worked great here!!!!!
  4. The reason for this is that the x0 y0 is the same location on the part for both the top and bottom. So your programs will have reversed axis outputs from each other. You haven't manipulated the part or your offset, You are just looking at it from the other side. If you really don't want to change anything, go off centerline of part.
  5. I'm with iowajim62. We just bought one for a 40 taper and it worked great. We had the salesman in so we could ask questions and show him what we were doing. He actually saved us alot of $$$. We couldn't have been happier with the support that we got from them. From any aspect of the RAH all the way down to the custom mounting block that we made.
  6. I have had probs with this also. It usually happens when I add an op to an already exsisting mcx file. Even with the ops all having the same nc file name it posts them seperately unless I do a name change. So I also believe it's a bug.
  7. Whatever it is it is in the network. I can save to my computer fine. It has to be the network.
  8. HELP !!!! MC will not save the mcx files. I keep getting this message/alarm. Error writing database to disk. I rarely have any of the probs that are most common on the forum, but this sucks. I've tried renaming the file and saving but I still keep getting the same error. Where I'm saving is on a server that I have total and complete access to. I double checked to make sure that someone didn't change it to a read only file and its not. For the life of me I can't figure it out. And my backups are blank also. I have my settings set to 3 copies and I tried to save more than 3 times so it overwrote any good file that I had. Any help would be much appreciated.
  9. Been happening here since the upgrade to MR2. But I can't get mine to reappear at all. Never had a prob with any toolbars at all until now.
  10. I really believe that the main probs have to do with file locations and the name of these files. If you tell it to load into a different file name than what its defaulting to, it doesn't migrate things correctly. IMO I think that it should put the file into a folder by itself and then migrate info from previous versions into the one created. I know that this in hand still messes with the routing of those merged files due to new file/folder names. You'd think that this could be simpler.
  11. you could also put a value in x y stock to leave. Even without comp on it will offset it.
  12. I have all of my libraries on the network. Didn't have to change anything. Just had to change the routing of where the files were in the control definition.
  13. What do you know. Go to e-mail my reseller to tell him about it and what do I have in my inbox? A permanent code for the upgrades that we purchased. Like the others said, It is a temp code that needs a permanent one.
  14. Actually it says "Authorization period on the sim ends in 11 days"
  15. Funny, my maintenance expires 10-31-2007 and I get a sim will expire in - now- 11 days notice.
  16. also check your tool settings in the op manager. set your toolpath config to "search tool library when entering a tool number" instead of "assign tool numbers sequentially". Then when you are done importing, switch it back. That way when you import tools they will stay the same number as what your importing.
  17. You want to go thru the center first. Then take a pass at top and bottom to finish widths. Right? If so, I've been doing it with 2 ops. 1st thru center. 2nd top and bottom using depth of cuts. The bottom pass will be your last pass of course. Figure what your tool thickness is, subtract it from your width of slot and set that for a finish depth. Make sure your rough step is greater than the depth you need to go for the top flange or it will step down all the way to the finish pass wiping out top flange. Ex. if first ledge is -1.0, make your rough step at least 1.0 + thickness of slotting cutter.

    WCS

The biggest thing that I found that was when setting your wcs, say "front" for example, the toolplanes and the construction planes should be "top". This is with 2d of course.
  19. Experiment with it and find out what size to make it. Draw a circle then apply your thread toolpath. After running and finding out what your offset was. Change the dia. of the hole to correspond to zero offset. Then export as an operation and save geometry with it. Then when you import your newly created operation, it will have the correct hole size already with it.
  20. Thanks Colin. I had never used STL before but always wondered what it was. I'll do some experimenting with it.
  21. Can you measure the results in cimco 5. This is one of the reasons I like verification software. The verify in mastercam will not measure the result, only the underlying model/wireframe. I have heard that cimco 5 will come with X3.

It also allows you to verify all of your ops at one time. You can tell if you are breaking thru in areas your supposed to, and areas where your not supposed to. I haven't machined thru something that I wasn't supposed to since I started using the wcs. It also makes your part file smaller because your not having to copy your main geometry to dif levels.
  23. Yes it is. Tool had to clear 4.3" to go thru box. Running a Kitamura with a bt35 spindle - just rebuil I might add. It would chatter bad at any higher rpm. So we went to smaller d.o.c. and pushed chip load to about .018". Machine wont handle feedrates past 120ipm. even then it slurs bad. Any faster than 120ipm and I couldn't make a square part.
  24. All depends on the machine capabilities. If you have a small taper you almost have to plunge mill. I just finished a bit smaller box (10 x 7.5 x 4.1" deep) using a 1" dia. Mitsubishi BXD4000R insert cutter. I only had a bt35 spindle to run it on. Ran it at 1800 rpm at 70ipm. I helical interpolated down on a 1.75 dia. w/.05 depth on z thru the box after putting in a 1" dia. hole to start. Was able to rough out box within .02 in under 3 hrs. If I would have had a stronger machine, I have no doubt that I could have done it in well under 1 hr. Had to go real slow on rpm and shallow on depth of cut because of spindle. Manufacturer suggested 8500 rpm with .008 chip load at .25 depth of cut. Have to have a "strong" machine to get away with that though.
  25. Thanks for the research Cannon.
