  1. i think you can rule out the post by posting to a different post file, and see if the results come out the same.
  2. if i had done it, i would first be checking my created geometry from a new approach to see if i had done something a little off. not that it's wrong, but i would analyze those things first.
  3. my thinking is to rough out the middle first, probably with a smaller cutter but not neccessarily. then use a 2d contour toolpath to follow the outer chain.
  4. what's the issue? the bottom part of the rad? maybe i'm not understanding your question, but if it's 2d you can just contour.
  5. it does not as far as i know, but a 2d ruled toolpath does. hth
  6. i'm not sure what your'e doing, but this may be a good time to use the hide function instead of blank. the blanking feature contains underlying geometry which you may not want to mess with.
  7. quote: When the very people that do this for a living hold their trade with such regard that "a few classes at night" equates to the experience that a First Class Machinist has i guess i missed the part with that equation.
  8. quote: i will continue to stop by mybe you guys can help me out in future. when i get stuck or need help if thats ok imho, there is an amazing amount of collective experience and a lot of helpful people on this forum. a very nice way to help navigate the school of hard knocks (in which i happen to be enrolled). welcome newbee.
  9. quote: Yikes couldn't agree more. good night and good luck!
  10. is your ea manager turned on? it may be doing some of those things because of that.
  11. once you have reached the icon in the customize box and used it, i beleive you'll need to open your config dialog and just save it. that will overwrite the old one. if thad's listening in maybe he can confirm.
  12. quote: From the config it doesn't have what Pete said. that's correct. when i open the colors box from the status bar(wcs, planes, attributes, level, etc.), it is a different looking box. has 2 tabs at top. colors and customize. the customize page has an icon over to the right (looks like undo).
  13. open the colors box from the status bar. not the config.
  14. ezra's method is more direct, but takes you to the same feature. thanks ezra.
  15. quote: but I think he wants a copy on a new level with the orig. colors. I've been playin and haven't figured how to do that yet. use the icon i mentioned above and the dialog box gives you the option of 'move' or 'copy'.
  16. henk, there is still a screen-change levels feature, but for whatever reason, it's not in the dropdown menu. however if you go to 'settings/customize/dropdown menus/screen', there is an icon which you can put on either your rmb or a toolbar which as far as i can tell works exactly the same way as v9. you don't need to translate. hth.
  17. henk, i'm confused(easily done). what exactly could you do before that you can't do now? maybe it could be done with the levels manager. v9: Use construction attributes determines the attributes of the transformed entities. Check this option to use the current construction color, level, line style, and line width. Clear this option to use the attributes of the original entities. vX: Determines the level and color attributes of the transformed entities. Select this check box to display the Level and Color fields where you specify these attributes for the new geometry. Creating the transformed entities on a different level and in a unique color can make them easier to identify. To create transformed entities using the attributes of the original entities, deselect this option.
  18. ea manager can also be accessed from the status bar, but it won't be configured permanently until you set it from the config. (cad settings page and check the 'active' box.
  19. quote: Now it set new Level AND Color. yes, but you could just select the color you already have or the one you want.
  20. when i have a complicated chain to select, i will copy-window to a new level. then delete whatever i don't want. it's just a simple method, but trying to select a chain from complicated geometry can be anything but simple, so for me, working on a separate level is the key.
  21. the smart dimension feature will move notes. you don't need to transform them.
  22. quote: The way I see it, its just as much potential employees as it is employers. quote: If you cant do what you say you can then you owe me the difference in pay from what your worth to what I am paying you." it is a two way street, and it should be based on your value to the employer. too many out there that want to throw around all the lingo and act like they're on top of the heap. then watch for a while. they're like a fancy box with nothing inside. no wonder the employers want to lowball everybody.
