  1. try 'cutting method'/'down mill' in parameters.
  2. check out the end of the thread 'mastercrash x' down below. chris bell from cnc would like to see your file.
  3. not specifically that problem, but with surface contour, our trodes almost always end up with drafted surfaces being heavy. i think some of this can be attributed to the fact that on the straight walls, the cutter is essentialy doing spring passes while it's not on the drafted walls, and possibly trying to get too much out of a cutter. in either case, i use a stand-alone editor with backplot to determine if the problem is being generated by mc. basically a process of elimination.
  4. good tip gcode, never used that before.
  5. jmc, i'm not able to do a select either. maybe we should put this on the wish list. cnc would hopefully be able to add that feature.
  6. you could get the bird flu like that.
  7. quote: I LOVE THIS PLACE!! be careful. it may only be infatuation.
  8. iv'e done that and got frustrated, only to realize i had inadvertantly turned off auto-cursor. ooops.
  9. josh, i typically merge multiple times and have not had any problems. as far as getting bogged down, the only way you'll know is to find out when it happens.
  10. i did it the way your'e talking about. there's definitely some construction that needs to happen when you extend the surfs up due to separation, but with some extending and trimming i think you will end up with what you want. what instructions did you want him to leave you? i thought he gave you a completed part.
  11. i think so. i was doing it yesterday. it got somewhat complicated because the surfaces were not very agreeable to trim functions, but no reason it wouldn't work with some trouble. but there's no way i could have done it in 5 minutes. realistically at least a couple of hours. maybe someone who's good with mc solids could do better though.
  12. quote: they want production and want everything yesterday. Does any one know if there is a fix for this ? you'll be famous if you find one. sorry, couldn't resist.
  13. sounds like you are referring to transforming. if you are, do a search on wcs. there's a lot of recent info on the subject. welcome to the forarm.
  14. can't confirm mark, changed ramp depth to .2 and still backplots fine.
  15. one more reason we'd all like to see a comprehensive list of all error codes and what they mean.
  16. i believe thad already answered your question.
  17. mark, just uploaded simple contour ramping file(bplot.mcx) to ftp. for your reference. backplots fine here. don't know if that helps, but might narrow it down.
  18. i'm trying to pull a 3d chain out of a part with a lot of branches and really need to have partial chaining option available (just as in toolpathing). if i go 2d, partial works great, but it's not near the chain i want to select.if i go 3d,i seem to have to pick one by one. it seems that there is still a need for some kind of chaining options on the general selection bar that don't exist. pulled up this past thread and it seems to hint at the problem. is there an easier way to general select a 3d chain from a complicated part.
  19. have you hugged a beancounter today? seriously though, hope they get that fixed for you.
  20. as an alternative, you could 'sort' byt tool and then transform.
  21. thanks peter, it does look like that was on. now if i can only figure out how the comp was being generated on a Z move, i think that will be very close. i've been changing parameters and rechecking the code and it keeps coming in on the first lateral move no matter what i do.
  22. steve, it's not in x, don't know why. although it won't work exactly the same, the ea manager would do pretty much the same thing i think.
