  1. Thats what I was looking for, Todd. Thanks for quick reply. Millman, I was looking for the original MC box type font. I already have loads of loads of truetype fonts. lynnz
  2. I remember a thread here about box style fonts with lower case letters added, but can't locate it. I have a need to engrave with some lower case letters. Running 9.1 MR0304 Level 3. Thanks lynnz
  3. RStuart, try going to Modify-Normal-Set-All-Surfaces. I did this to your file and the normals reversed on 3 surfaces. (all of them) It may make a difference. If this was a solid with the top surface removed, the normal is on the outside. lynnz
  4. RStuart, I agree with Iskander. Tighten up filter tolerance. I usually rough with .002" total, then change total to .001" or less on finish. Although why with your current settings would 1 side be smooth and other side rough?? Lynnz

  6. Reporting back to say by relaxing system tolerance and chaining tolerance in Screen-Configure under Tolerances seems to allow the MasterCamDirect feature to work without any MasterCam crashes. The settings on my machine were the default settings that I had never touched, But I changed them just a little bit and it works great. On my simpler models, all the features come in as editable. The more complex ones come in as a brick. Pretty cool on the ones that are recognized. Thanks for the input to all. lynnz
  7. Paul, I would like to get it working because of the history tree thing. If I import a sldprt file, it is just a dumb solid. I am by no means dead in the water, but if this would work it may change how we use Mastercam for the better. lynnz
  8. Paul, I really haven't messed with my cfg file. I am running the latest Solidworks 2004 SP2.1 I have contacted my MC dealer and he said it was something to do with SolidWorks. I don't think so as Mastercam crashes when I run the c-hook within MasterCam without SolidWorks even running. He was going to report it. lynnz
  9. Has anyone been using this utility? I installed it yesterday (Norton disabled), but can't seem to get it to work . In SolidWorks, I click on mill icon under MC Direct and MasterCam opens, then says mill.exe has generated errors and Mastercam closes. If I go straight to Mastercam and try to run Mastercam Direct c-hook, it will give me same message as above and close Mastercam. I suppose I can try and re-install it, but I was curious if anyone else was having trouble. Lynnz
  10. Paul At Conical, look under whats new. They have Carbide mini's. In the 5° endmills, there are 2 3/64 mills listed. 1 has a 1/4 loc and the other is 1/2 loc Lynnz
  11. Paul, I use Conical Tool for my tapered endmills. Been using them for 25 yrs with no problems. HSS and carbides. They will make custom tools if you give them info. http://www.conicalendmills.com/ HTH Lynnz
  12. d00d There is an addon that comes with Solidworks 2003 and 2004 that allows you to save as pdf. When you upgrade you will have it. It is thru Bluebeam. Lynnz
  13. Panthers by 4........... low scoring affair. lynnz
  14. Peter where I came up with 13 points was mainly points scored or setup by the Panthers D.... Hope you know the Panther D is a notch or 2 above the Colts D. I realize the Pats play awesome D too......should be a good SuperBowl. lynnz [ 01-19-2004, 05:36 PM: Message edited by: lynnz ]
  15. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After all, the last 2 yrs the NFC South has ruled football in the playoffs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Um; I'm not sure, but I'm fairly certain that the Patriots won the Super Bowl 2 years ago... ------------------------------------------------- I mis-phrased that... What I meant was Bucs last year, Panthers this year and so far they have handled everyone they've met in the playoffs... Panthers 13..........Patriots 9 Lynn
  16. Carolina should handle the Patties. After all, the last 2 yrs the NFC South has ruled football in the playoffs. Last year Bucs, this year Panthers, next year ?? Saints?? Doesn't hurt to dream about the Saints... Go Panthers Lynn
  17. Robk, Are you using Solidworks 2004? You should be able to convert Pro-e with this version. SW 2003 and earlier would not convert. From 2004 help: Version Information - Versions 17 through 2001 of Pro/ENGINEER are supported. Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire™ files are not supported. Assembly features are not supported. If you have 2003 or less, send me the file and I can convert it for you. HTH Lynn Z

    OT: Survey

What type of work do you do? Design and build pattern equipment for sand foundries-ductile and gray iron, brass and aluminum. Also build machine tooling from time to time and some aircraft prototype models and tooling for aircraft layup molds. What type of programming do you do? mainly 3d surface machining, but some 2d. A bit of lathe programming also. Do you run the machines also? Sometimes, maybe about 10-15% of the work that goes through. How many machines do you keep going? 3 machines and a lathe when needed. 19. 3 seats here and I'm the only one that posts. I usually just read with a remark or question every now and then. What I read here is very valuable to our quest of getting the most we can from MasterCam. Thanks to all. Lynn

  23. Been in the trade since 12-72 with a total of 4 shops. I've been at the 4th one the last 27 years. Sure sounds like a long time....I guess it is. Lynn
  24. Funniest thing happened. I sent file to reseller, then thought I'd keep trying it some more. I reran it and all of the sudden it worked. I then tried it at .010" stepover instead of .020" which is where I was at after increasing it to try to get it to go. It then ran fine at .010". The only thing I could think changed is it was afternoon. I bet we messed with this file 5-6 hours this morning and then it works. ??? Oh well, at least we'll met the deadline on this one........ Lynn
