Mastercam brings in the redundant geometry
It is like it is all the geo lines squashed
It might be the undeleted lines that the
desinger used to make his part.
They are not there in my old software but
show up after the igs out and import into X2
Rick
I am using the Highspeed waterline path
and I am getting a million retracts like
it wont stay down like a surface finish contour
path does.
The waterline rest material is even worse.
There are all these arc lead ins retracts etc.
If anyone would like to try and get the ugly out
of either of these paths, I would greatly appriciated. its in the MX2_files folder called
Ugly Path.mcx
Thank you
Rick
I got it to work for the waterline cut
although has 10 million lead in and retracts. in X2
Cannot get it to do a smooth cut even with
using all surf and a containment boundary
I have encountered this as well and
i am pretty sure we will have to keep using
checked surface.
On a mold base it speeds things up a little if the
part is one color and the P/L and sealoffs are
another color for selection.

Hi all
I am converting files from my old software and
redoing them in X2.
So I igs them out and bring them in to X2.
Layer 1 always has a billion lines or splines on it
in 2-d. Some of my files have line geometry
on that layer. so deleteing it all I would then
lose needed geo.
Is there a way to stop it from importing all
that junk that I don't need?
Thanks in advance
Rick
I have used different software that rainfalls
colors on surfaces for separation.
In top wcs plane it puts red on top and green
on the Bottom according to the draft.
Virtical (no-draft)surfaces come out as blue.
90%+ of the separation is done in an instant.
It works the same for when you are in front
and side WCS planes.
Move colors to a different lvl, viola.
I have suggested this the to qc@mastercam
to maybe do something like this for Mastercam
users that wont ever have Molds plus.
I'm hoping it comes out on the next build.
Unless someone could make a c-hook
I don't find that the layout needs to improve
much, its all about speed which I find that
the icons or the menu drops are just as quick.
(for me)
Too bad the ops manager isn't a window that you can
toss over to my other monitor. or an option to
make it a window
Maybe some day.
i can't seem to find how to set these 2 defaults.
For all toolpaths.
Can any one help me?
Thanks in advance
Rick

3-d total tolerance in the tool path parameter.
2-d I do the same with the filter tol.
Sorry I am using X2. Not familiar with V9.
I would think it has the same tolerances in
the tools parameters though.
Other software that I am familiar with also looks
rough when verifying the 2-d paths
but the results on the CNC are great

My solidworks does both surfaces and 3-d curves
when saving it as an iges file.
Solid works will also create the 3-d curves on a
separate layer when making a parasolid.
I seem to be having the same problem.
I can't find a way as of yet.
Try creating a two point dia circle by snapping
to the spline start and the mid point.
If you send me a file I'll try it for you.
Sad to say I export the splines and do it in a
different software that has create splines to arc
and then import.
I have made a suggestion to QC@mastercam to snap to
grid-line endpoints, this way you can draw a
circle by snapping to the gridline endpoints
on the hole in a surface.
My friend is a Beta tester and has said this
enhancment is in the next release.
Hope it works good
ya might need to be on maintenance to use it though
I do have that checked but it does not change
when you change C-plane(or tool plane)unless
you change WCS
I dont find it necessary to change WCS when I
draw using C-plane front and side.
Is the WCS mainly used when creating a C-plane?
I have used that function to create planes on
compound angles.
Should I be changing the WCS when simply drawing
in front and side C-lanes?(is it necessary)
i don,t think I fully understand WCS yet.
Thanks
Rick
