  1. Actually, Tilted Work Planes with Euler angles rotate about the programmed toolpath's Z, X and Z again. Just got a Matsuura MX520 and been doing a LOT of reading.
  2. Also... if you hold the SHIFT key down, your selection will filter out surfaces and only select wireframes. Now for the problem in X9... something changed with this feature. In versions before X9, most of the time the mouse hover would highlight the surfaces before highlighting the wireframes but holding down the SHIFT key would filter out the surfaces making wireframe selection very easy. Not so anymore. In X9, the wireframes take precedence even when you want to select a surface and there is no keyboard equivalent to filter out the wireframes. So now we have to zoom way in, make the surface selection, zoom way out, zoom way in to another area make the selection, zoom way out, etc, etc. Mastercam just got slower to use, not faster. Can you please fix this the way X6 thru X8 was?
  3. The same thing happened to me & the programmer next to me. It also happens with X9 from a few days after a new install on a new computer and at least twice a month.
  4. Mine X8 is also sticking with a different cursor. When the center scroll wheel is pressed to pan or spin, that is the cursor that is always showing in the graphics window whenever it decides to stick, but it switches to the pointer when over the Op Manager & Toolbar area. Resetting MC fixes it but something triggers it again. Happens every day now. Was OK 2 weeks ago. hmmm
  5. Thanks daryl_y, that worked. Hopefully it will "stick". I had X6 that would always change something in my configuration file. I see no sense in allowing a user to save changes only to have Mastercam change it. I finally had to make it "read only" and also modified the permissions to deny any changes and that prevented Mastercam from changing it.
  6. Make sure your BIOS can be set to AHCI. You seem to have a newer type so I'm sure it has it but make sure it's turned on for the SSD. Improves performance of the SSD by making sure all features are used.
  7. I had the hybrid drive also but with Trend Micro (company anti-virus) , it's still too slow. Complete boot up, where the HDD light isn't on anymore, takes about 2 minutes. With my new SSD, less than 30 sec. I can see a speed up during use also. Look at Micro Center (online) for SSD sales right now.
  8. OK, according to NVidia, there's no way to load different drivers onto a card using their driver software because it checks the actual chipset on the card & installs the appropriate drivers. Bummer. Guess I have to use X6 until I get another card.
  9. Oh, before I work on it I forgot to mention that X6 still works correctly but X8 doesn't. Looks like a big enough change in the video protion has been changed in X8. Don't know about X7, we skipped over it because X6 works so well.
  10. Well, one programmer here has the Dell Precision T1700 with NVidia K600 card. Graphics in X8 work correctly & is still pretty fast. He doesn't have very big files, usually less than 5 megs or so, or less so he can get away with it. So IT gets me the K620 card because it has 2 Gig ram instead of 1Gig that the K600 has. Well, the K620 card does not work for X8 very well. When doing a Backplot, the toolpath for all selected operations are always on & the Quick Verify is either all off or all on & cannot follow or walk with the tool while stepping. This is a problem because it is more difficult & time consuming to try to verify with the Quick verify off & all the paths showing & with Quick Verify on, all your geometry is covered. I tried changing every setting on drivers in different configurations & nothing has worked. I tried turning off Hardware Accel & the Front Buffer in X8 but that didn't help either. My next try will be to uninstall the K620 drivers & try to install the K600 drivers if it will let me. I'll update in a bit.
  11. I just had the same problem. X8 has been running for almost 3.5 hrs without exiting, opened up & worked on about 3 different jobs then back to the first. The font used is Stick with one leader. I was using the Create Note earlier with no problem then it started messing up. I did a Ram Saver and that cleared it up for now. Not sure how long this will last. Windows 8.1 Pro, Dell Precision T1700, 16 Gig ram, hybrid HD.
  12. Anyone know why X8 save the column positions in the Tool Selection window like the past Mastercam versions? Was this left out on purpose or just forgotten? Our shop doesn't need the Assembly or Holder columns & would like them slid out of view but Mastercam always brings them back to it's own default. I even found the key for those columns in the registry. I would change them and even delete them but they came right back. (and yes, I exported those registry branches before changing them. )
  13. People that really don't understand the value that performance can make.
  14. Yeah. I showed that to the IT dept & by the look on his face I knew he never when to the Mastercam site to check the recommended specs. New guy doing it this time.
  15. I also have the Dell Precision T1700 with only the onboard graphics & I can tell you the only problem so far is the Backplot, Quick Verify is NOT working properly. It either shows all, blocking site of everything underneath & around it, or does not show it at all or shows it as it moves then erases it immediately after the tool is at the endpoint of the chain's segment. Even when it draws as stated, it doesn't draw it correctly. It does not draw to the diameter of the tool, only have of it with a straight edge. I have the latest drivers also. Already have IT dept looking for a dual monitor Quadro card.
  16. I'm having the same issue. Just upgraded from X6 to X8. X8 drill cycle is not showing the retract before moving to the next position. When at the bottom of a hole, the next position is over the next hole. Also according to the X8 "What's New" pdf, "Drill cycles in both Backplot and Verify now respect the settings in the parameter pages, so you see the tool moving in and out as defined. This applies to all cycles for Mill and Lathe". This is also not working. I see no retract of the Z axis before moving to the next position & there is no pecking shown either. Anybody know what's wrong ?
  17. System ram is 4 GB RAM, dedicated video ram is 512 MB (total avalable video RAM 2.2GB. I sometimes have X6 running with word & Adobe Photoshop & most of the time X6 with Solidworks I& don't have any problems. Just the control panel applet does not work, even if just X6 is running.
  18. When I go to the Control Panel and click the applet nothing happens. Tried it on a Windows 8 & Windows 8.1 installed computers (Dell Precision T3400, dual monitors, 4GB RAM) both do not work. When I have the Task Manager up, a "Windows Problem Reporting" background process pops up for a sec then dissappears.
  19. I have Window 8 and X6. The Mastercam Control Panel app does not launch & I need to use the debugger. Does anyone know how to fix this or bypass the control panel app so the little bug shows in the post window? I tried diesable Avast & I even put in the mcam6 folder exlusion & also the control panel app .cpl file but non of this worked. RIch
  20. Ok, I understand the CZ now. I've never seen it like that before. I figured an edge break too. Looks like a min to max. This is half a bearing race. We have to machine them together & then tie them together to prevent mix up within the same batch. Thanks for your help.
  21. Does anyone here have experience reading German prints for bearing races? I'm not familiar with a True Positional tolerance with a CZ marking and there's another dimension that is for the ID with " (mp) " after the tolerance & lastly, the ID & OD edges are marked -0.45 -0.75 with the -0.45 over the -0.75 and there is a vertical line & horizontal line drawn to show a corner. The print states Tolerance per ISO 8015 which we do have but it's doesn't pertain to my questions. See attached print. Thanks Bearing race.pdf
  22. I have the same concern. We have an 18 meg .iges file from the customer to load & it takes about 10 minutes because hundreds of Warning: Zero Line Length messages pop up. We have to sit there with the Enter key held down. This is ridiculous.
  23. This is also a big problem with the mill side & posts. Editing the tool then exiting with the green check mark button does not save the new data from "Dia. offset number" or the "Length offset number" fields. There needs to be a selection somewhere that ignores forcing the field to be some kind of default but always accepts what is input in the fields by the user. We will use a tool with multiple H heights but only one D number. (example: T4 will be used in G56 with H6, G57 with H7 & G58 with H8 and D6. The D number will always be the same first H number used with that tool. This makes it easy for the operator & setup personnel to find the D right across the screen from the H). The D number has no reason to be different for the other work stations if using the same tool. If so, there is a problem with the program or setup.
  24. Ok thanks. Is it ok to delete the -6 files without the .toolsdb extension?
