  1. Neurosis, When I said I used both I was reffering to Surfcam and the Cimco adaptive clearing (30 day trial). I have not used X4 and might not get to for a while. The place where I am working now doesn't use mastercam, they have V5 only.
  2. You simply can't get a Surfcam Tru-Mill type path out of Mastercam. Tru-Mill is simply awesome for hard or abrasive metals. It increases tool life by almost double and cuts faster. Your best hope for now with mastercam is the adaptive clearing that was mentioned earlier. I have played with both and adaptive clearing is alot closer to Surfcam but still not quite there. If you are on current maintenance and can wait for X4 to do it I think it is going to have a tru-mill style path. I can't think of the name of it right now though. I think it might be dynamic mill? BTW: in that large cutout on the top of your picture you could draw some 2D geo and use peel mill and get a decent result.
  3. I think James was referring to the horizontal Haas with rotary. Those are incorrectly labeled as "A" instead of "B".
  4. That's slicker than snot Rick. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Did you switch to a Fadal machine def by chance. I think that is Fadal code.
  6. quote: is it correct that my WCS should all be the same and my tplane should change? Yeah that is right. WCS should be set to top. The coolant callouts I am not sure about. I use the Mpmaster post available on this website and it doesn't do this. Was the post you are using updated form ver 9?
  7. Thanks for the link Colin, now I have a headache. Dave, Got er done!
  8. Thanks Dave! Now I am excited to go to work and try it.
  9. Hey guys I am using the Mpmaster post in Version X3MU1 is there any way to get the header information to come out after the first manual entry? As it is now when you do a manual entry as your first op it comes out before the header info. Thanks, Kevin C.
  10. Yes turn on all of the levels and then click on the operation you are wanting and then click on the lower right button in the operations manager (it has a grey circle and a red square on it) that will hide all non associated entities and then you can analyze the remaining entities to see what level they are on.
  11. Well I have my fingers crossed. Our maintenance runs out on 5/31 and things are tight right now.
  12. I thought I was probably the only one neurotic enough to hit the save button repeatedly. Good to see I have company. I think it should work like Thad said. Not sure how hard that would be to set up?
  13. I saw that work NC video the other day too. Awesome!
  14. kunfuzed I think it is. From what little I can tell from the videos. I know the BETA testers are not talking
  15. Have any of you guys machined any of this stuff? What is it similar to? The stuff we are getting in is not heat treated and will be 33 HRC max and we have to rough machine it before heat treat so I was hoping to get some feed and speed tips for a 3.0" feedmill. I was thinking about 300SFM and about .030 FPT which according to ISCAR'S numbers is a little conservative for a feedmill as this will be run on a 40 taper horizontal HAAS. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
  16. Ron, I am updating a second PC and I have installed the verisurf tool right after a fresh install of X3MU1 and I can't get hole axis to work at all. On the other PC in the office it works fine. Both are running Windows XP. The PC that it does work on is running an Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS and the one it doesn't work on is running a Geforce 8600 GT. Any clues? When I try to use it the model I use it on looks like it is be converted to surfaces but the hole axis line never shows up? UPDATE: I can get it to work but it only works on wireframe entities. Not on solid surfaces. It also works if I convert the solid to surfaces before using it. Thanks, Kevin C.
  17. I try to use incremental as much as possible so all the ops will update fine in Z depth.
  18. I would use the longest depth of cuts with light radial cuts. 40rc can get kind of gummy still. Coated carbide tools should work well with air blast if you have it. the Ni content will tend to be a bit abrasive on the tools. I have had good luck running similar materials, (15-5PH) at about 400SFM with about a .003 FPT on a 3/4" Coated Carbide endmill. HTH,
  19. Not sure if you have one or not but that might be a good app for a feedmill also.
  20. ck, Yes if you want to have only one offset you will have to have everything modeled exactly like it is on the machine. Yes you would also need a seperate WCS for each position.
  21. I used to use transform rotate around the tombstone all of the time but I have been getting some strange results since X3 came out.
  22. It can be a PITA at first but after you have done a few parts it is not so bad. I do it all of the time. EDIT: on time I had a part that had 2 operations on a horizontal 4-axis and 2 operations on a vertical 4-axis without moving the model at all.
  23. Looks awesome Greg. I would like to play with one o those. Your toys are better than mine.
  24. My opinion WCS definitely. I have had watertight STL issues when X forming them.
