  1. Bmilford, To use restmill make a dummy operation that mills from a block down to your current stock configuration and then save that cut part as an STL file after verify and then use a surface highspeed toolpath restmill toolpath and under the restmill tab select use CAD file then when you exit out of the parameters it will prompt you for a CAD file and then just point it to the STL file you saved from verify. hth, Kevin C.
  2. Bmilford, That might be a good canditate for restmill, using the geo in a cad file. hth, Kevin C.
  3. Check out the file linked on this page as: cds5.stp HTH EDIT: I guess it would help if I pasted the link. http://www.isd.mel.nist.gov/projects/stepn...-2005/index.htm
  4. Carbon, Depending on ho the surfaces are layed out you might be able to save them as an STL file and still be able to use the STL compare function. It has worked for me in the past on some occasions.
  5. Maybe your machine def got corrupted? Have you tried reloading it?
  6. I just tried it as Justin stated and rotated about y 45 degs and got a B 315.00 output. I am not sure if this is the "right" way to do it but it always gives me the output I am after using the Mpmaster based posts. Justin what post are you using?
  7. never mind my first reply then. No JP I always rotate the plane around y also and it works fine as long as the wcs is set to top.
  8. Was your WCS set to top when you did the rotate? You only want your t/c planes set to front when you rotate about y 45 degs.
  9. If it is a somewhat simple STL I have been able to import it in to Solidworks as a solid. It is on the settings page when you go to import it. Hopefully you have access to solidworks. There was a STL to surfaces C-hook in older version of mastercam but it is real slow and it doesn't like big STL's either.
  10. Thanks for the tips EDM, yeah I have checked the code it is not right. I ended up just moving the origin. I am not sure my reseller uses the remote computing application. I might have to give him a call. Thanks again, Kevin C.
  11. Has anyone figured out how to get consistent results from toolpath transform? Specifically translate between points? I have used this since XMR2 and have had good results moving part positions on horizontal 4-axis machines. But ever since I think X2MR2 came out it hase been acting real strange. Sometimes it works other times it does some really strange stuff. It just moves the toolpaths all over the place. The setting I use are: 1. Transform by tool plane (leaving the tool plane origin only unchecked) 2. I select multiple operations and group them by operation order 3. Translate between points 1 time and then select my points from the graphics area. Does anyone know why this would not always work? If it is broke any word when they will decide it needs fixing? When using this function with a horizontal does it matter what your T/C planes are when you initiate this operation? It seems like when it works I have my WCS set to top and T/C planes set to front no matter how many different angle planes I have. It is very frustrating when I know this used to work very well and is much faster than moving the origin. I do try to program everything in incremental but there are some things you can't and it makes it a pain on top of the fact that I always feel the need to re-verify after regenerating operations.
  12. Speaking of that one, how or why the he@# would that get changed? I would think most of the time most users use tip comp?
  13. Yes I did this to me just today. I did see they have gotten the arrow to stick when you leave out of verify. It no longer runs all the way to the bottom of your operation tree everytime.
  14. I sent it back, I am not sure if it is what you wanted but was what I could do. hth, Kevin C.
  15. I can look at it but I might not be able to help. [email protected]
  16. Peter, That one still works for me. The shift left click that is.
  17. Uh no thanks, I don't need the NSA to come knocking on my door... On topic, I would try to help but drawing is not my strong suite.
  18. I think you could easily take that tool up to 500sfm with a .003 cpt. Just remember the key to get the most out of the endmill is to take the largest axial cuts possible and light radial. I would use up to 90% of the flute length with .030 to .050 radial stepover. The endmill may wear out quicker this way but you will remove a whole lot more material with it in a shorter amount of time. I would run it dry too.
  19. Thanks Del, That did work. I should have checked in the config file I wasn't doing that.
  20. Hey guys, I searched the forum and the help documents and can't find wether or not this is possible. I have assigned some enities a custom color but everytime I re-open a file the customized colors go back to the original color. Am I not doing it right or is it not possible to save custom colors? Thanks,
  21. Hey guys, Got an E-mail back from QC on this one and they gave it a number: CNC00042719. Curiously if you set stock to leave at .011 instead of .010 it doesn't do the retract, an easy work around.
  22. Follow the links, Best of all it is free and works really well. http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...t=032408#000000
  23. I just ran in to this also. But like Mike-T said I regened the operation and then the tool picked up the new stickout in verify. I think this was a bug in an earlier version too.
  24. I would like a spongebob too, if it is not too much trouble. [email protected] Thank You!
  25. Thad, It does the same thing just a little longer message with a more dire warning about losing DATA. Nothing really to worry about...
