  1. Am getting same message here, still using 2017 and been to busy to contact QC. Please post solution.
  2. How about you create solids of each centerline, then thicken both directions. Then boolean removal of these solids from base .
  3. David, Thanks for teaching me this, great job.
  4. David, I resorted to splitting toolpaths as you mention. Would you please explain on how to use the safety zone. Thank You, swarf_retract.mcam
  5. I am using swarf toolpath to mill a half circle outer draft. In between layers tool retracts and rapids directly across for next pass. Is it possible to change the return method to perhaps unwind in a circular path or even triangular points to avoid rapid directly across?
  6. I have some legacy files, that for obscure reasons still prefer to keep in older versions of MasterCam. After any Win10 update the Quadro drivers will also get updated, but older versions of MasterCam will no longer function unless i disable hardware acceleration and turn off OpenGL mode. So every time i get an update; its uninstall and re-install my drivers time. What a PITA!! I think i may have found a solution that I wanted to share with you that may be in same situation. in gpedit, computer Config, Admin templates, Windows components, windows Update: I found this....
  7. Is it possible that at 55 deg it actually is an overtravel issue? Try without tool and move tool length offset in closer. Or sometimes you need to add a "point" toolpath to get closer to part prior to rotation
  8. I am working on the HPS-120B/5 now. It has 15k rpm spindle 50hp X124.00" Y51.50" Z30.00". The drawbacks to this machine its only A+-90.0. and you lose quite a bit of Y travel when tilted. The RB series is a good machine also but the Z" travel is very limited, but does come with W column for extended reach. We still have yet to dial in our post for the "W". My favorite is the PS6B series gantry , has a larger travel than you need. This has A+-110. with no loss of Y axis. Im sure all these have many options as far as spindle; gear driven or direct drive.
  9. I am very familiar with SNK machines. Any specific questions you have on them? 120" is way to small for gantry style, at that size take a look at the HPS series.
  10. Ron, Never knew you could extend the curves as you have. That is brilliant!!! Have you ever gotten "tool axis limits" to work succesfully? if you have, would you please share an example of this. Even sharing that 1 surface made me a bit nervous!!! Secret projects going on here.
  11. Here is a typical surface that I need to deal with. I would like to keep like a 45 deg. contact angle with a ball endmill, but also need to limit the angle at left end of surface. LOFT-WALL.mcam
  12. Thanks for the suggestions and I apologize for being so broad on the question. I'll upload something this evening.
  13. What 5 axis toolpath should I be using to cut a lofted wall with alot of twist that has control of cut pattern? Parallel seems to do ok, but I'd rather follow curvature the way flowline does or even better would be a spiral out pattern. Currently using a ball endmill and 3d scallop but need to switch to 5 axis to control angle of contact.
  14. With Hass trunnion I control this with misc "primary bias". I'm not at computer so don't recall exact value I use. Try 0,1,2..see if gets you needed code
  15. Its possible that the .X_T file was created to a later version than X7 can handle. Try opening with later version of MasterCam, or have Autodesk save to older XT version, try V18. Gcode beat me to answer
  16. Found it. Thank you John.
  17. Kicking and screaming, I had to make the transition to 2017. WILL take some getting used to. I needed to use the the X9 style scallop footpath but all I could find is the newer high speed scallop. I imported from older file a toolpath that does use the older style scallop and it seems to work fine. Question is; is old style scallop available in 2017 and it's just a matter of adding to to the toolbar?
  18. If no internal corners, I've never shyed away from conventional cutting. Though try to keep final cut climbing.
  19. Run v4 to v5 migration utility to create a .cat part prior
  20. Good Morning New to X9 here. I am having an issue with selecting entities, X9 does not behave as i am accustomed to on previous versions. Seems to default back to to window selection after every pick. Will not remain on single or chain as i have selected. Is there a setting that i am overlooking?
  21. Take a look at Doosan's line of trunnion style 5 axis.
  22. I'd appreciate a sample file on how to use this feature.
  23. Try an actual point toolpath in place of reference point
  24. Thank You, All the responses were very helpful in pointing me in correct direction. I drew up both as radial and diametrical, I am going with diameter as radially would wipe out counterbore at right end as shown in sketch. Ron, yes i recall also using the blue in my grinding days. The mating part would explain why no tolerances are called out, odd that no note is mentioned on print.
