  1. This method depends on how big the piece of Glass is but I can GUARENTY it will work. What you do is get two pieces of Green plate glass that are larger than the piece your going to cut. You warm up slowly on a hot plate until all three pieces of the glass until you can melt candle wax on them, Then using candle wax melted on all the glass you sandwich the Good piece between the two scrap pieces. You then warm up a Flat piece of plate that is smaller than the finished sizes that you can clamp to later or hold in a vice. Place a tree pieces onto the plate again using the melted candle wax. If you can get a resin mix to mix with your candle wax you can use this to make the wax a harder wax this makes it so that the wax that has a higher melting point but will hold larger jobs much more. Place the glass equally-spaced on the plate and leave to cool completely. NO SHORT CUTS. You should cover the glass with a box and tissue to keep away any drafts and keep doors closed while setting this up to prevent the heated glass from flawing. Also make sure you only warm the glass as little as possible just enough that the wax freely melts over it. Once its all cooled off use a DIAMOND Grit Tool about a 40 grade to do a rough pass and you could use a 20 Grit for a nice finish. And you can profile this part you need. Make sure the part is always flood to prevent again Stress flaws. Keep you Feed Slow and Your RPMS as high as you can get. The two waste glass pieces will protect the good piece while machining. Once machined slowly warm the plate up again and take them apart. Hope this Helps Karl Oram www.caledonian.ca

  3. In Version 8 We used to use the misc values to determine if the output was for a canned cycle rough or finish. BUT!!!! In Version 9 goto Toolpath >> Next Menu and you will find the canned cycles. You may still need to modify your post to get the format the way you want but the mplfan is pretty damm close. Hope this helps Regards Karl
  4. Ive never had to install it into x:Mcam9commoneditores....etc Just make sure you add the editor to the windows path, my path for example (XP) C:PVSWBIN;%SystemRoot%system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%System32Wbem;C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdaptec SharedSystem;C:Mcam91CommonAcisData;C:Mcam91CommonCat5DataLibNT_DLL;C:Mcam91CommonCat5DataLib3DxIntel_aCodeBinC:Mcam91CommonCat4Data;C:CIMCOCIMCOEdit4 My addition is the last cimco portion Hope this helps Regards Karl
  5. Sounds to me like the person who last modified the post wanted the coolant to always be on regardless of the switch. I would look in your post for the coolant being forced ie: "M08" and do one or two things. Just remove it from the post and use the one that come on when the switch for coolant is on from the parameter page. The other is to move the call for it to the existing position. Regards Karl Oram
  6. Hey Charles, I know exactly what you mean, check these out http://us.shuttle.com this is what I use and they are excellent. I have it Loaded and with the Wireless option, comes with its own carry case. " perfect " Karl Oram
  7. I would like to offer my 2 pence worth for what its worth. For me the web can be a great source of knowledge. The experience shown and shared on this forum is invaluable to any machinist, even if they do not use Mastercam. This Forum is one of the best for maintaining the subject “Mastercam”. And its mediators do a good job in watching the content and making sure we stay as politically correct as possible. “Well Done You Guys” I understand that from time to time there’s always going to be a side bar. I respect this way this forum uses the O/T to distinguish those none Mastercam issues that are brought to light. I can easily avoid those subjects as I do most of the time, as my time is best spent inside Mastercam only subjects. If you have a specific subject other than Mastercam that you want to discuss there are many other forums out there, just try ALT/”Title of Your own choice”, I’m sure you’ll find something close. The problem I find with the WEB is that when you are trying to find information that you really need, filtering out the "Crap" takes forever and is frustrating. Take the Alt-Machines-CNC, It’s almost become a waste of time because of the "Bull* It’s hard to stay focused on any subject with the all the other none related subjects that get sucked into the thread. So if this forum is to remain the valuable tool it is I’m all for keeping to the business of Mastercam /Machines/Tooling/ etc. Keep all the rest on the other forums were they belong and maybe just ask if any of them are machinist.

  12. Hi Charlie Make sure your running version 4.32.28 or version 4.32.29 with your Mastercam you can get the update from cimco-integration.com regards Karl Oram
  13. Have you tried using CAMTASIA - Absolutely brilliant - I'm using it for remote tech support to get a point across. Make small recordings specific and to the point and you will see the benifit on your first support issue. I could put up an example if anyone is interested. Regards Karl Oram
  14. I See that this topic has split into two threads - in anycase I have uploaded the Chook to the Emastercam/CADCAM's Ftp under the Chooks Folder for those who want it. Also this is a tool created By Ernie's Verisurf Team - Cat's out the bag it seems Regards Karl Oram

  19. I'm guessing that you may be using a Fanuc, and you have possibly two options to fix this. Option 1: is at the machine by changing the NCR parameter Maybe #100 if series 16 or later. NCR - Output of the (EOB) 0: LF, CR, CR are output 1: Only LF is out put. Option 2: is in Cimco Edit DNC Setup Check the Box that says Omit Emty Lines I hope this Helps Regards Karl Oram
  20. Sounds like the best way to fix your problem is in your post by adding: sextnc #NC extension override This will auto name your extension to your file when posting. Inside your Cimco Editor you can custom different machines with different extensions by renaming the .mac found here C:Mcam91CommonEditorsCeditCNCEdit4Cfg Then when saving or getting a file slide the selection bar down to your required machine. eg:(rename hh.mac to Haas VF4.mac and make the following changes) [GENERAL] TYPE = Haas Vf4 DESCRIPTION = HAAS BASICTYPE = VF4 ############################################################################### # # Load/Save # [LOADSAVE] AUTOSAVETIME = 0 AUTOBACKUPTIME = 0 SAVEEXT = (Type Extension Here) LOADEXT = (Type Extension Here) SAVEPATH = LOADPATH = DEFAULTTYPE = 0 [LOADSAVE DEFAULT] AUTOSAVETIME = 0 AUTOBACKUPTIME = 0 SAVEEXT = (Type Extension Here) LOADEXT = (Type Extension Here) SAVEPATH = LOADPATH = You will have to restart your editor and Remember to back up your file for safety. Hope this helps Karl Oram
  21. When you first install the product it goes into C:Program FilesMastercam HSM Performance Pack. The first time you run the PGM use the Alt C the riffle through the directories to the installed directory and launch from here. It then will ask you do you want to install this into your Chook Directory. From then on it runs from your Chook Directory. For anyone who didn't know there is a user guide.pdf and tutorial.pdf also installed to the C:Program FilesMastercam HSM Performance Pack also. Regards Karl
  22. Here an excellent one for your quoting system works very well or a least will get a smile: "My prices are the same for everyone $10,000 divided by the look on their face"
  23. You could save your self a little time by downloading the Addons.zip(From In-House Solutions)and can be file found on this emastercam site it will place tap, counterbore, or just plane old spot and drill libries. Very handy But its still good to learn how to set them up and once you get the hang of it you will appreciate its power. regards Caledonian_Karl
  24. Hi Jamman Its pretty easy to make your own BMP Files to use with your icons. EG: If you have solids Create some cool looking Solids that represent "DXF" use the Create surface from solids. Then use the Screen> Surf Display> Studio> (omly works with surfaces) Play with settings to achieve best results. Then Save as DXF.BMP in your mcam8commonicons directory. Go back to mastercam and you should see the icon in the toolbar. Paging the icon bar over and back may be required to refresh the icon Bar. Some points to lookout for are the Bit Map has to match the name in the mill8.cfg file and in some cases it worth checking what name has been allocated. You could put your own name in the cfg file, but I find it less work later in if you have to renew the config file then the default names are still in good order and so your new icons still work. Also Remember the icons are pretty small so make the letters Big and fit screen before creating the Icon. A light grey or Blue (3) works well for the back ground. Another note on icons is the Verisurf Guys created some very cool and refreshing icons install their product even as demo and check out the cool icons. Hope this Helps Caledonian_Karl
  25. Hi You can attach an icon or hot key to most commands. The quick way to check is F10 - If its listed there then it can be assigned. And as you will See File> Convert > DXF is in the list. Use Screen > Config > Toolbar/Keys Then in your list of assignments scroll down to File >Convert>DXF Then add the current Assignment and select a desired ketstroke or B# for Icon Buttons. Hope this helps Regards Caledonian_Karl
