  1. Something you can try. Create a surface on the face you are having trouble with. Then apply curves to the edges of the surface. When you are done with that you can delete the surface or move to a different level and turn it off.
  2. The "Global" WCS is always on (when displayed) even if an alternate WCS has been created.
  3. We keep all the "shared resources" (tools, menus, parameters, etc.) on the server. In difference to gcode, we also keep user config, and mouse button files on the server too. That way you can jump into any seat and always have your personal settings just the way you like them.
  4. When you open a drawing (.DWG or .DWF) that has multiple drawing sheets contained in it, is there an easy way to get back to the dialog that lets you select which layout to open? I mean without having to reopen the drawing file.
  5. Sometimes ya just gotta bend the rules and try something a little different.
  6. I have had the same problem in X3 MU1. What I have found that works as a solution is this. Pick each element farther away from the point of intersection. Usually has to be more than the amount the elements are being extended or shortened. This works at least 99% of the time. Thad is correct too that unless a spline is already past the (theorectical) point of intersection it won't work. Lines and arcs do not need to be extended to create an intersection, but splines do.
  7. Ok....as in Rickster's case where he is getting vertical entities selected in his chain. He could continue up or down within that 3D wire frame he is picking from. So long as he completes a logical chain to fit his needs (basicly getting back to his starting point). Then as I stated above...."in the operation parameters under the contour parameters tab you select 2D in lieu of 3D. Set the depth to where you want it to be and you are good to go".
  8. You can make a "flat" contour from 3D entities. I've done it numerous times. You have to start with chain mode set to 3D. Then pick the appropriate entities. When done you click the green check. Then in the operation parameters under the contour parameters tab you select 2D in lieu of 3D. Set the depth to where you want it to be and you are good to go.
  9. Yes it happens every time. But....if I was to guess why it does it....it's so you can see which ops are actually being posted. I find advantageous to see which ops are selected, because we often have multiple program names posted out of one toolpath group, and sometimes I forget to edit the NC file name.
  10. Yeah, the reason you get the conflict error is that the across and along of the surfaces are are reversed (perpendicular) on one or more surfaces. The solution is: 1. To either recreate the surfaces so that they are all oriented the same way. or: 2. Toolpath all the surfaces that match orientation in one or more ops, and the same for the remaining surfaces.
  11. What's wrong with Flowline? It does everything you are asking for!
  12. Make sure your C-hooks are pointing to the correct folder if you did a parallel install. I had the same problem when I went from X2 to X3. Pointed everything to the correct folders and it was happy then.
  13. No. As long as the elements you are using are planar to one another they do not have to touch. Likewise (as stated above) the endpoint of one or both lines does not have to be at the point of intersection (the resulting WCS origin).
  14. When I select WCS by geometry, and the origin is NOT at the end of one or both elements, it will then insert a point. Otherwise, no point is created.
  15. When you think this has a possibility of happening....save before you do the operation. Then if it does occur as you describe, just re-open the file without saving again.
  16. You can import and use any True Type Font that windows can use. Find one you are happy with and run with that.
  17. For $20 plus s&h you can get Rosetta Stone software and learn German ok....I couldn't resist....and sorry but got no other answers
  18. Under the Total Tolerance button, set your Filter Ratio at 2:1 and make sure you turn on Create Arcs in XY, XZ, & YZ (assuming your machine controller can handle the arcs)
  19. So use X2 to do your imports, then open and work on them in X4. You'll be 9 minutes ahead.
  20. If you want a serious power processor Intel has just come out with a 48 core CPU. Here's the Link
  21. quote: does anyone have a solution or work around. Yeah it's a simple one too.....just click the 3D button in the toolpath window and it will work. I have the same problem, even though it's all a 2d path.
  22. We regularly use mutiple Machine and Toolpath Groups in our daily routines. I have never had a problem opening the parameters for an op. The focus arrow that Crazy Millman mentions, automatically jumps to that position when I open the parameters. I do sometimes have an unrelated problem though. When I try to open an op parameter it does nothing. I simply click on anything else in the ops manager and then go back to my original selection and it opens just fine.
  23. Dammit Jim! I'm not a geek, I'm just a country doctor
  24. Check the color of the bounding box too. Could be the same or close to the background color.
  25. quote: 4) Rename “MCVerify.dll”. This will prevent the file from being overwritten by the new *.dll. Why do you have to do this if you're not going to use the original .DLL anyway???
