  1. 2D Swept should get it done for you.
  2. @AHarrison1That didn't give me what I was looking for. My problem doesn't lie solely in the preview feature, but rather that the previous values stick and that's what gets previewed initially. I like the preview, AFTER I type in my numbers. The second part of it goes like this. Say I have two lines and I want to translate one X2.0 and the other Y-.25. I translate the first one X2.0, click the blue check and select the other one to move Y-.25. The first thing that happens is my second line jumps to X2. before I even type anything. Now I type in Y-.25 and I have to correct the X move to X0. It's annoying and (once again!) adds to the unnecessary extra mouse clicks/typing that MC has become so good at...aLl In ThE nAmE oF hElPiNg Me.
  3. I'll give it a try when time permits. I don't have very high hopes though. It seems to be prevalent in more than just Transform. Even things like changing levels, MC remembers the previous level you changed to. I was thinking there was a "remember last" setting in config, but I think that may have been for chaining.
  4. Thanks, but I'm talking about the CAD side of things (translate, rotate, scale, etc). Say I translate a line Y+ .5. The next time I want to translate something, it defaults to Y+ .5. This causes the preview to move/copy my line Y+ .5 before I even type anything. Is there a way to make it not remember the previous value by default? I'm sick of my geometry jumping all over the screen based on the last value when 99.9% of the time, it isn't the direction or distance that I'm trying to achieve.
  5. Is there a setting in config to make it NOT remember the last value used for things like X, Y, or Z values in Translate or the angle value used last in Rotate?
  6. Good point, Neuro. I'm not sure if it has improved, but maybe the safer bet is to just select the first line and use Extend in the lead in/out settings to get the tool to cut everything.
  7. If that's the case, select the first and last edge (no need to select the middle two) and set the tolerance even bigger.
  8. Same kinda thing after making the first click of Analyze Distance. Annoying.
  9. @Jobnt Yeah, same here. I'm guessing we didn't have an invert selection option back in those days? That's what I use now.
  10. Here's something that I think it silly. I don't like the gnomon to be selectable. Like mentioned here, it's in the way when I want to select something near it. It's a much bigger target than what I want to select so I find myself accidently selecting it often. Then I discovered the disable selection setting you just mentioned. Cool, that's what I want! The problem is, accessing the size and opacity settings of the gnomon require the user to right click the gnomon....but I can't, because I just disabled clicking it! We should still be able to access the gnomon settings without making the gnomon selectable for creating planes, etc. Right click = YES. Left click = NO. I know the settings can be accessed through Config, but it shouldn't be buried that deep. I think I should buy a spare "G" key for my keyboard because mine is gonna get wore out.
  11. Chris, is there any chance that you're related to the late Patrick Sirois; retired army veteran and police officer?
  12. @JoshC I like how they broke the videos down to CAD, CAM, CNC and showing in different softwares. That's brilliant! Thanks for sharing!!
  13. Also, check to see if you're programming to "center" or "tip" of the tool. (Sorry, but I'm not sure what parameter page that's on.) Center will show an offset toolpath like you're seeing because it's showing you the path of the center of the ball...which is up a bit off of the fretboard. Another comment that I wanted to make is that since your surface doesn't have much shape to it (fretboard is only slightly arced), you could probably rough it with a finish parallel toolpath. As a newbie, you're probably thinking "I'm roughing, so I should use a roughing toolpath." The difference between the roughing parallel toolpath and the finishing parallel toolpath is that the roughing allows for step downs; assuming you've got a generous amount of stock to remove. In this particular case, you don't have much stock to remove so there's absolutely nothing wrong with roughing with a finish parallel toolpath leaving some finish stock, then using finish parallel again leaving 0 stock. My last comment is that in this particular case, since the form is as shallow as it is, finish parallel should work just fine. Generally speaking, I recommend using the Blend toolpath for finishing. It does a better job of stepover on a wider variety of surfaces. You can see the difference between the two toolpaths with the right examples, but I'm not in the position to offer those examples to you. Perhaps someone else here is. ***EDIT*** I just realized that billb mentioned the tip/center setting earlier.
  14. Funny thing about this feature... For years and years, it always used to function like this: Select ops, left click and drag and the ops that you dragged would automatically be MOVED AFTER the op you released on. Select ops, RIGHT click and drag and when you released, you'd get the option to move/copy the ops before/after the op you released on. So like you, I've always wanted to move the ops after the op I released on. And I knew exactly how to do it quickly. Then, one day it was mentioned here, that the functionality that we were all used to was actually a bug. They fixed it and now it's a nuisance. Now that it's fixed, we have the functionality that you're questioning. And I agree, I don't like it either.
  15. Config - Toolpaths - General Settings. See the last two options.
  16. What are you going to do with it if you get it? Do you have old computers to install it on? That would be cool to see.
  17. At the moment, with 2023 pinned to the taskbar, my behavior is as follows: Open a session of MC and I get the duplicate icon in the taskbar. Open another session of MC and it gets grouped with the duplicate icon. Open more sessions of MC and they all get grouped with the duplicate icon.
  18. I think there's a few people here who should pursue professional help.
  19. Agreed. I just learned about it recently myself.
  20. *Watching. I've got the same thing with 2023. I've made it work in past versions but it was so long ago, I forgot. Don't have much time these days to monkey with this kinda stuff.
