We have a stamped part that we run out of 316 stainless. They want to add another hole to the part. It will eventually be added in the die but we have 500 parts without the hole that they want reworked. I'm hoping to run it with air blast (no coolant). I'm looking for recommendations on solid carbide drills to add the hole. The part is .100 thick and jobber length drill will be used. This *should* be a one time run.
Brand? Coating? Anything else?
Thanks!
I don't have anything constructive to add, but I just wanted to say hi to you, Peter. I remember you from way back. You used to live in the northeast, didn't you? Vermont or Massachusetts maybe? Anyway, welcome back!
A few job changes ago, I mentioned here that I was running a new machine and wanted to customize a post. I asked what a good out of the box post to start with was for that particular machine. Three or four people emailed me their post. But if you come here to the forum and ask for a post, you'll get pointed to the forum rules rather quickly.
I think you'd be amazed at what is shared behind closed doors among contributing members in good standing. Just sayin. If i had it, I'd give it to you.
I haven't heard of any crashes, just that it won't find all the arcs of the given size until you combine views. Or maybe I heard about them and forgot.
May 2002 for me. 18 years!
Mask on arc wouldn't work until BernieT (where are you Bernie?!?) told me I had to Combine Views first.
Thank you InHouse for all that you do! Thank you to everyone here who I learn from every day. You're the best!!!
Perhaps it could've been me not paying attention in the past, but I think you've recently (last few months?) become a more active member of the forum, both here and OT. I've been using MC since 2002 and that was WAY before we even had an OT forum at eMC...but I always read your posts at eMC with interest. I appreciate and enjoy your forum contributions.
Different users have different workflows with MC. There's something that we can all learn from each other regardless of how much seat time we've had.
