We have been getting more than a few tech calls because of IT people moving either my documents or shared documents to a server. This causes alot of strange problems with Mastercam functionality. Whenever we see this situation we insist that my docs and shared docs are re-set back to their normal paths on the C:drive. If there are still problems then uninstall and reinstall X5 because this is quicker than trying to diagnose what else is hosed. It took 25 days from the time this tbl thread was started to get it resolved. Could have uninstalled and reinstalled with default settings in less than an hour.
Back in fanuc 6M I used to jump around within a single program using M99Pxxx. Yes I said M99. The P number was which N line number I wanted to jump to.
I used to get big delays opening Mastercam when I was using Kaspersky Internet Security. That is why I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials about a year ago. Even disabling Kaspersky did not help. Had to uninstall it completely. Other anti-virus programs were also reported as causing trouble from time to time.
I found one cause for the delayed opening of Cimco and Mastercam editors today. Both my home computer and work computer recently started taking 30-45 seconds to open when posting simple gcode. It would only have the delay the first time posting after turning on the PC. Subsequent posting of various files woud only take a second to open.
I tracked it down to a recent Microsoft Security Essentials update. I use this for my anit-virus. When temporarily disabling its "real time protectrion" the delay no longer occurs. I tried adding mcam, cimco, etc. to MSE exculsions but still get delays.
"C-axis drilling" will drill through the OD of the part and the tool will ALWAYS be pointed toward the centerline of the shaft. If you need to drill above or below centerline you will need a lathe with a Y axis and you must use "cross drill".
X5 has some new lathe tool compenstaion applied. You can try setting it back to the old style. Not sure if this will help you or not. You can set it in the windows control panel in the mastercam applet. Close Mastercam before making this change. See picture below.
When I have Settings/config/start-exit set to Mastercam editor or cimco editor and I post code it takes over 2 minutes for the editior to pop open. If I use notepad it pops open in less than one second. This happens even on a simple test program just drilling one hole. What could cause this? Permissions? Anti-virus? what else? I now have this happening at 3 different customers.
This will get you close:
Make your large circle a little smaller so it doesn't touch the rectangle.
Click the drop down arrow in the general selection tool bar and click on "area".
Click in an open space inside the rectangle near one of the four corners and you should see results similar to the picture below.
Click on the lines of the rectangle to unselect them (and any other entities you do not want to delete).
Hit delete on keyboard.
We have 10 or more computers here running X5 on Windows 7 Pro. Most are 64 bit, some are 32 bit. We are running X4 and X5 on Windows 7 without any problems. Every computer we build/sell to our customers is loaded with Windows 7 Pro and Mastercam X5 unless they insist on XP Pro.
Nevermind, I re-read the original post and see that you are trying to get v9 and X to run on Windows 7 instead of XP. X4 was the first version supported by Windows 7. V9 and X are not going to run on Windows 7 and is not supported by mastercam.
Windows start button/all programs/mastercam x folder/click on the utility "Hasp X". At the top of the popup window it show a version number. If it is V4.0 it is too old. Go to the mastercam website and download the V5.5 HaspX.exe file. Run it and see if you start and end dates are good. You might have to use it to update your codes.
The file "insert.tbl" is related to lathe inserts. It is located in the folder "shared mcamx5". I would have IT check to make sure your login has read/write priveleges to that folder. With Windows XP the default is set so that the average user does not have enough permissions to the "all users" folder. I think Win 7 it is called "public documents". Another clue that you dont have enough permissions is when you see alarms like "toolfilt.prm" when you are selecting tools from the tool libraries. Let us know if this solves your problem.
We have sent a few files to CNC with the same kind of problem converting a solid into surfaces. Seems like it is the simple flat faces thant won't convert to surfs.
