  1. V9 won't run well if at all on Windows 7, but if you have XP installed you may need drivers from the mastercam website. Support/downloads/misc, and grab the file called "drivers_x.exe" There are two of them. The one you need is dated 9/09/07.
  2. When you don't need the Verisurf tabs you can easily turn them off in the Verisurf Preferences menu. Verisurf tabs all on / all off. See pic. This on/off option became available with the X5 version of Verisurf.
  3. Try disabling your anti-virus temporarily. I had Kaspersky 2010 Internet Security Suite for a while and had to uninstall it because it interfered with multiple mastercam functions.
  4. Right click on computer, left click on properties, advanced system settings, then performance settings.
  5. 104 views and no one wants to share what Anti Virus software they are using?
  6. Which AVs are you guys using that are not interfering with Mastercam functions? F.Y.I.- I have just proven that Microsoft Security Essentials is now interfering with FBM detection and creation of machining operations. I created a simple rectangular pocket that normally takes only 10 seconds for detection and another 10 seconds to create toolpath. Now with MSE running it takes over 4 minutes to detect features and another 4 minutes to create tool path. If I turn off MSE it only takes 10 seconds as mentioned above. I have run this test in different ways but always get the delay when MSE is running. This is with X5/MU3 on Windows 7 Pro-64bit OS on a Dell laptop. Also as I stated in an earlier thread MSE is also causing Cimco to open very slowly on the first occurrence. I also just notice that when it deleays I see on the mcam status bar that it is hung-up while searching the fbm tool table file.
  7. Here is something to look into. In Windows 7-64 bit the chooks folder is now located in c:\program files X86\mcamx5. Did you delete this folder and its contents before re-installing?
  8. Thirty seconds isn't bad for a mechanical hard drive. My SSD drive launches mastercam in 8 to 12 seconds.
  9. The probe is quick and handy but you just never know if the last guy on the machine bumped it hard and threw it out of calibration.
  10. If you you are referring to work offsets when you say "positions" there was a change as to how its done in X5. In previous versions you used offset 0 for start, and then increment by 1. In X5 you have to say start 1 and increment 1. Assuming you source ops are using offset 0, the next location will use offset 1(start offset), and the next location will increment by 1 and use offset 2, etc. There was a tech bulletin on this somewhere.
  11. It was brought back in X5MU1 because although you may not use the funcition there are others that require that functionality. We had several users complain loudly when it was taken away.
  12. On the transform type & methods page choose "operation type" to have each tool run thru all the work offsets before changing to the next tool. Choosing "operation order" will run all the tools thru the first offset and then all the tools thru the second offset and so on so you end up with a lot of tool changes. Also choose "copy source operations" and "disable posting" otherwise the first part will still have all the tool changes. I actually like leaving this option off so it does make the first part complete so I can inspect it before making the other parts. I use it for quality control.
  13. The warn status bar was just a trick to get me to read the "Forum Guidelines" and utilize the "Search" feature. From what I have read a full white bar means you do not have any warnings
  14. This is what I see when I click on it.................NOTHING!
  15. What is this "warn status" bar under my name? Whatever it is: 1. I didn't do it 2. It wasn't me 3. I don't know anything about it
  16. A couple of things to try: 1. Go to the wcs view manager and make sure the box for "update graphics view when wcs changes" is NOT checked. 2. In the operations manager second row of icons make sure the one all the way on the right side is turned off. It is the one that says "Only display associative geometry".
  17. Look Here. I was just reading something about this on the benchmark forum - threads 1330 through 1337 on page 67.
  18. That satement is not correct. It actually does start at the min value on the steep shallow page. If you have 20 mm stock above your Z zero than enter 20. for min. Enter your max depth as a negative number. That being said it may be faster to use a face mill to hog off all that extra material.
  19. If I am working on .375 diameter stock or less I often go to direct RPM to avoid the spindle speed ramping up and down during tool changes. Specifically during large quantity production runs.
  20. In my case it is being caused by my anti-virus program Microsoft Security Essentials. Here is more info: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=60644&st=0&p=678610&fromsearch=1entry678610
  21. For those of you running the GTX 460 card - are any of you using it for Solidworks? I had to dump my 9800 GTX after I loaded up and starting using Solidworks. The desktop would show through when the toopath paarmeter pages would open. Also lots of grahics lock ups. Switched to Quadro FX 580 and has been working fine ever since.
  22. The graphics card does make a big difference if Verify speeds. See my test chart I have been keeping. These times were all done on the mcx file mentioned in the benchmark post.
  23. Dont use the apply button, just use the green check mark button for now.
