Is this download still available? The link at the bottom of this page is now for the 3D Master gage. Does anyone know where they moved it to? I tried searching it in this forum with no luck. I didn't see it on the Verisurf web site either.

On the main menu bar choose settings/configuration/screen and then put a check mark on "disable hardware settings". Then shutdown mastercam and restart mastercam. Try drawing your lines and see if they show up.

The adapter cable that comes with the card is a Display Port to DVI cable. This cable can not be used to run a VGA monitor. The adapter cable I purchased seperately is a Display Port to VGA cable. (PNY cable part number is 91007808-T. My main VGA monitor is running from the DVI port on the card. Here I used a standard DVI to VGA adapter.(Not a cable).

I picked up a new FX-580 a couple of weeks ago. Here is a tip, if you need to run two VGA monitors you will need to buy another cable. PNY cable part number is 91007808-T, this is for a display port to VGA cable, you will be able to purchase it through any authorized quadro distributor such as SHIDirect or ingram micro, doing a google search will also yield results from various online stores. I got mine from Amazon for $37. and both displays are running fine.

Programinator, Does your user account have full read/write permissions to the Mastercam folder and all of its sub-folders?

We had a machine where the tool would get stuck in the spindle only after a heavy conventional type mill cut. Changed it to climb milling with same speeds/feeds/doc and it would never get stuck. Was just strange.

EIA on Mazak VCN-510: The machine parameters by default use the Mazatrol Tool Data page for the length and actual diameter of the tool when running an EIA program. This is actually a good thing for the average operator if he is already familiar with Mazatrol. If you prefer to use the Tool Offset page instead of the Tool Data Page for your offsets you will have to change two or three parameters on the machine.(can,t remember which ones).

Todd, I have had my eye on that same laptop. I would be very interested to know if that new laptop will handle mastercam for Solidworks without the video flaking out. Please keep us updated.

When using Mastercam X4, my Geforce 9800GTX+ card works just fine. I recently installed Solidworks and Mastercam for Solidworks. Now the Geforce 9800GTX is unusable in Mastercam for Solidworks. Backplot and Verify freeze up, the desktop shows through in various parts of the Solidworks interface, and the only way out of it is to restart Solidworks. Its a mess. I installed a Quadro FX 580 and now both softwares are working just fine.

Letters will be more uniform if you create them flat at the center of the sphere (Z0), then xform roll them to a diameter a little larger than the sphere, then use xform project(normal) to sphere.

Roger, I just picked up an FX570 used from ebay for $60. I just installed it this evening and set it up with driver 6.14.11.8246 (182.46 WHQL) that I downloaded from the solidworks web site. Nvidia site has the same driver and a newer one which I have not tried. I didn't change any settings except for setting it to clone mode. It is driving my monitor and projector just fine. I tested for only 15 minutes in Mastercam and in Solidworks with Mastercam for Solidworks installed. It seemed to be running fine. I have classes all week so I will let you know how it goes. Edit: BTW using Windows XP Pro SP3 on this particular box.

Yes. When you open the verify window there is a yellow folder icon about midway down the window. In there you will find a "colors" section. You can change the color of the stock and cut colors 1 through 10?

That is done on purpose in the HLE version. Once again everyone needs to understand that the HLE version is a learning tool only. There are some things it will not do at all, and some things (like dimensioning) will produce errors on purpose. Things like this are done so it won't be used in the work place instead of purchasing a real seat of Mastercam.

Most lathes that I have run are not capable of using a G83 canned drill cycle on a non-rotating drill. You could cheat a little and use the G74 canned face groove cycle, but that doesn't do a full retract between pecks. I think my Mori and Mazak C-axis lathes would allow G83 only on live rotary drill operations. I don't know about Haas.

You need a copy of the Home Learning Edition. You can get it from your reseller or buy one of the training manuals from the book link at the top of this page. Some of the books come with the HLE and a video training CD.

I thought I read somewhere this problem can be caused by old,or non mastercam dll files in the mcam folder??? Can't remember right now.

Goto setting/configuration/screen. Put a check mark on "disable hardware acceleration". Save the configuration. Shut down mastercam. Re-open mastercam. This is a very common problem with video imbedded on the motherboard.

Try installing all the sample part files that come on the installation DVD or download them from the mastercam web site. The picture below was made from the file: 3d-project-blend generic chamber.mcx. Also take a look at the file: 3d-project blend.mcx as it has many individual surfaces with criss-crossing UV mesh lines. In the picture below the the two blue chains are used as the blend lines.
