  1. bogusmill, I tried disabling Kaspersky but it still froze up. Then I put mastercam into Kaspersky exculsions. It still froze up and locked. The only way I could get Mastercam to run was to complely uninstall Kaspersky. This was back in Ocober of 2009. I re-installed Kaspersky with all its updates 2 weeks ago and Mastercam is now working OK. It still takes a few extra seconds to open but after that it has been working fine.
  2. Here are two things you can check. 1)I am running X4MU3 on Windows 7 64 bit with a normal install. I did not use xp virtual machine and I don't think it is needed. 2)When Kaspersky 2010 internet security first came out I had trouble with Mastercam running slow and locking up. Diabling Kaspersky didn't help, had to completely uninstall it. Other antivirus can interfere as well but I don't recall which ones.
  3. I have been searching for a PNY forum, but there aren't any. I did find some info on one of the Nvidia Fourums that seems to suggest it is related to what type of monitor is being used. My user name in that thread is FP1.
  4. Ain't it fun? I like it more and more everytime I use it. I always find more things it can do.
  5. Yeah, I have heard (from some) that the 580 is even faster than the FX-1700. I have been running the EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB card and it has been working fine in Mastercam. Now that I have loaded Solidworks and Mastercam for Solidworks this GeForce card is horrible. Tried new drivers, etc.etc. Murray, thanks for the ebay reminder, watching some cheap deals now on FX-570 and FX-1700.
  6. John and Phil, Are you running it on a PCI Express X16, or a PCI Express 2.0 X16 motherboard? Also what resolution do you have the monitors set at?
  7. How is this card working out for those of you using it? I want to get one, but in the reviews from Newegg and other sites, everyone is talking about having trouble with the two Display ports failing and only being able to use the 1 DVI port. I need 1 port for the monitor and another port for the projector in clone mode. Reviews for the FX-1800 card don't mention any problems with the Display ports, but I would assume they are the same ports. Anyone know whats up with these port problems?
  8. Are you trying to create a point relative to an existing point using incremental values? Heres how: create/point/position, hold down the shift key, click on an existing point, the autocursor toolbar will now change to a white box with a triangle (this is incremental), key in your incremtal values in this box.
  9. Are you accidentally hitting the zoom target icon instead of the zoom window button?
  10. Those arrow heads for expanding the dialog box will go unoticed very easily. Mastercam removed the arrow head from the create rectangular shapes in X4. I would like to see them reomved from all of the create geometry type boxes. Those drop down arrows serve no purpose and are not needed IMO. Why not just show the whole box like rectangular shapes does now?
  11. I would want tip comp to work on a tap if it would actually let me key in the number of incomplete threads on the tap instead of a "tip angle".
  12. I have been running an EVGA Geforce 9800 GTX for over a year with no problems and no special tweaks. I downloaded the newest driver (at the time) from Nvidia's web site and it has been running fine. My video card needs a minimum of a 450 watt power supply. You may have some instability if your power supply is under powered.
  13. At Shopware we have some on XP Pro 32 bit, one on XP Pro 64 bit, some on Windows 7 pro 32 bit, and some on Windows 7 pro 64 bit. We tried Vista once and dumped it after a few days.
  14. Turn on the filter and allow arc is X/Y. I have used it in the past it and it works great.
  15. Do a google search for Mazak Forum. There are many. CNC Zone, Practical Machinist, etc. You will probably get more responses there on this subject.
  16. Are you sure you have the window set to "in"? Sometimes when I use window "out" I forget to set it back to "in".
  17. You will need a seat of Solidworks (from a solidworks re-seller), and a seat of "Mastercam for Solidworks" (from your Mastercam re-seller). A standard seat of Mastercam mill level 3 or mill level 1 will NOT work inside of Solidworks. Check with your Mastercam re-seller for pricing.
  18. Update - It was Kaspersky 2010 causing all the trouble. Unistalled Kaspersky and re-installed Windows Live Essentials and Mastercam is normal again.
  19. Obviously the first thing to do is check that you plugged the hasp into your new computer, and make sure the red LED lights up. That could take a minute or so. Then go to windows start button/all program/mastercamX4/NHaspX. If you have a stand alone hasp, set the radio button to "HASP". If you have a nethasp, set the radion buttons to "NetHASP" and "Network". If you have a nethasp installed on a server, make sure you new computer is connected to the network.
  20. The HLE version saves in .emcx format. You won't be able to open that file on an industrial seat of mastercam. The e stands for educational and is in place so that college students can do their lab assignments at home and save their work to turn in to the instructor.
  21. Update on Kaspersky. A few days ago they came out with "patch a" that fixed the Windows Experience Index rating from failing. However it still causes Mastercam to open and close painfully slow. Today I gave up on Kaspersky 2010 and uninstalled it from both of my computers. I loaded up Microsoft Security Essentials for the time being. Mastercam now opens and closes normally.
  22. Yesterday we loaded up Win7-Pro-64bit onto another computer with an SSD drive. Mastercam opened faster than a speeding bullet. Then we loaded Kaspersky 2010 Anti-Virus only. Opening Mastercam then slowed to a crawl. It slows down even if you set mastercam in Kaspersky exclusions. We then unistalled Kaspersky, and Mastercam opened very quickly again. Norbert did some research on Kaspersky and apparently they know they have a problem with their product slowing down some applications, and are working on another fix. Will post it when we find it.
