For simple 2d stuff vs the price you pay......forget it! IF your working from a solid Import" Pro -E" then i can see some uses for mc solids. Clamps ,fixture details ,vise & jaws..bolts . This is just my own opinion.

In rhino you can flavor the IGES file to the cadpackage your exporting to ,,See if you have mastercam as your export to option checked.. Also see if the export surface tolerances are high.

You can use one arc & create the three bore milling depths by using the depth cut option in your tool path parameters settings. Lets say you have a print depth of Z-.75 In the depth cut I would set the MAX rough at .25 " thats .75/3 " Finish cuts at 0 Keep tool down (Checked on)

If the projected letters is made up of closed geometery then Create a new layer copy & translate Z+ vector 7mm . Then trim outer sufaces away .Then youll have your rasied lettered islands Dont think you can do stick style fonts.

Point well taken Jerry But every machine shop is ran differently so my prices change accordingly in the situations I have to confront. Repeat bussiness becomes a problem for me when the customer wakes up & Finally breaks down & buys there own software.Even then i get repeat calls cause the dont want to spend the money for a full time programmer. I for one dont let them see how I program or use the software. They get the program & documetaion only & thats all the get.I hang around till they get good parts off & make the minor adjustments as needed. Then i,m gone$$$$. With out going into in depth detail. I Charge the customer base on the situation at hand & how they run there show on the shop floor. A lot of foot work will be a great part of how you get customers. Try to interact only with the Shop owner ( DA Money Man) . Short run job got ta have it yesterday ------->NAIL THE SUCKER & drag the program ((((((slowly)))))out or your computer before you hand it over to them. J/K If I see that there making a killing on the job im programming charge as much as you can get away with. If its a one of a kind or small lots,then back off the price a bit. Dont sell yourself cheap or youll gonna get screwed in the short & long term.

You can create copy of that surface on a new layer & extend that copy & switch back & forth between the copy extended & original surface as needed by using layer hide. Just a thought Kenneth Potter

Are your really saying is that your indexer is set on your machine tool on the X postive side & the indexer is rotating about the Y Axis ? Then you should draw your geometry on the screen in that same setup/orientation. Alt G to bring up your snap grid Center cross hairs of the grid is the system X0 Y0 Draw your Geometry on the X + side "right"

They used Esprit when doing a demo for a customer i know. Heck they even palmed off a Machinist Q-code editer Cd on me (it sucked). I wonder if Hass dumped Esprit by now ?

Glad i can help batraul HEY CNC Folks it would be nice if Mastercam has an option to automaticly link the chain point & toolpath pocket entry locations. Weres the chained point (pre drilled hole for hog Em entry) will always follow the pocket entry (spiral inside to outside ) location if one wants to make minor path /parameter changes. Also make the chain pocket enrty point a different style (eg) "Bulls eye " to alert the programmer that that chained point is linked "welded" to a pocket toolpath. Just A thought

When i purchaced mastercam back in 99 they never said a word about the vid card problems with ATI then again I didnt read the news letters & facts sheet that they sent me(((((( afterwards )))stressing the importance of a good card Mastercam was doing some wierd things with and ATI card. This forum was the best infomation I got about it. Got to real careful not to break the forum rules about bashing our great Mastercam resellers (JK)

Or you can save it as a stl*.* then import it to Rhino, flip it around to your prefered veiws & colors. Then render it & save as a Jpeg ,/tag/gif or hardcopy print out.

In Rhino save the STL AS---> use the wavefront *.*obj file extention & use the stl save as nurbs suface option. Then your gonna have to buy a plug in to convert *.*obj it to an iges . I know theres one some were on the rhino web sight. or you can contact Mcneel direct for more infomation.
